block with solid hatch move or copy

Within Autocad 2016 we have a problem with our blocks. Our company blocks are using solid hatches. since we are using Autocad 2016 when we move or copy a block we can not see trough the solid hatch. This is very annoying when u need to place a block from the center for instance.

Before we where using Autocad 2014 and it was normal that you can see trough the blocks.

Is this a common problem?

The problem does not occur when:

- Move the block with a grid point

- Move or copy the block with the MOCORO option

- Turn of Hardware acceleration

Off course we can work around the problem with these solutions but still we think its strange and annoying that this is new since AutoCAD 2016.

you've post the problem and the solution ... generally Disabling Hardware Acceleration will always take you to the right place.

Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

As @imadHabash indicated, this is very likely a graphics performance issue. What operating system and graphics card do you have on your system? Do you have the latest drivers for your graphics card?

If you do, then an option would be to move the hatches to a layer that has a transparency setting that you can adjust or even temporarily turn off.

Unfortunately this does not solve the problem, i have tried to change the transparency but still i am not able to see trough the hatch while moving. We are using high end machines because we are also modeling in 3D and the drivers are up to date.

Just because you are doing 3D doesn't mean you have high end machines. Many mid and even low end machines are fully capable of drawing 3D. If turning off hardware acceleration solves the problem, I'm guessing that you video card may be a bit lacking. Can you post your specs to verify that your machine is adequate?

Can you attach one or two of your blocks so I can try to duplicate the problem on my computer?

I suggest that you also take a quick look to see if your video drivers are current.

Hello John Vellek,

Try to move the block "Moerplaat" over the block "TRIO paneel zaz" you will see that you can't look trough the solid hatch in the block. Also try it in a earlier release, you will see the difference.

Yes, I am able to duplicate this behavior you are seeing. In AutoCAD 2015, 2016, and 2017 I do not see the transparency when I drag the block. However, if I disable Hardware Acceleration, the behavior reverts to the way it looked in AutoCAD 2014.

But, the member don't wants disable Hardware Acceleration (AutoCAD 2017) and wants AutoCAD 2017 "works" the same way that AutoCAD 2015.

I think that Autodesk has deleted that function, because I can't find any system variable that control that "problem".

Any ideas for solution without desabling HA?

You mentioned 2017 but your image has 2018. I tested this behavior in AutoCAD 2018 and the transparency shows when dragging.

So, can you show me a file if you are able to duplicate what the user is seeing?

Sorry, I did some tests with 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, just not share all images here.

Yes, the problem is the same at 2017: with the HA disabled you can see through the solid hatches, but... the member wants this behavior with HA enabled, wich is the way AutoCAD 2015 works.

He does not want the Transparency property, he wants the transparency behavior that AutoCAD 2015 had.

Hi Luciana,

I am not aware of any other settings (sysvars) that control this behavior so my only solution for this is to temporarily turn off Hardware Acceleration. Perhaps the user can make a button or macro so they can toggle it quickly.

I told him:

"From the 2016 version this "functionality" was either removed or disabled, but I could not find any system variables that "enabled" the view the way you want it to keep Hardware Acceleration enabled."

I think that function does not exist anymore.
And what he wants is not possible with the newest AutoCAD releases.
