Since we upgraded to AutoCAD 2017, AutoCAD can no longer keep up with my speed. I type in most of my commands with shortcuts, but when AutoCAD asks for points for ANY command (MOVE, ROTATE, SCALE, ETC.), I either have to pause after the command prompt or else click multiple times in the same place before AutoCAD can see my pick point (the second or two it takes for AutoCAD to catch up). This is very frustrating. I've posted about this in the past, but since more people are now using AutoCAD version 2017, I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem. It slows me down quite a bit. I have a brand new Dell computer (Precision Tower 5810) with 128 GB of RAM. I wasn't having this problem with the previous version of AutoCAD and an older computer with less RAM.

Its not uncommon for users to make settings once then forget about what and/or why they did until they work with a new install or version. Whenever you make changes, document them so when you have a fresh install to deal with you can work through the list to get similar results.

This could be a matter of command-autocomplete working against you. Try turning it off and see what happens.

I do these
so fast that the keystrokes show on the command line, but no
prompt (until after a huge pause, after I already selected the
first of two points, possibly more than once until I realized
the prompt is not showing yet).

The OP did not state that there was or was not a prompt.

???

I'm having this same issue with AutoCAD 2016. For instance I can type an L to draw a line and it always takes two left clicks with my mouse to start drawing the line. If I wait for 3-4 seconds sometimes the first click works, sometimes it doesn't. I have the right click on the mouse set to repeat command and that only requires one left click to start the line, so this issue seems to stem from only keyboard commands.

There must be a fix out there, this is driving me crazy.

Then it's not probably not the command line options. Maybe it's something to do with the communications center or whatever it's called. That bar at the top where you sign into A360, search, etc. One of those might be searching for something it cannot find.
