I'm still having issues with AutoCAd 2017 plotting, this post is similar to my earlier post about xref with a clipped boundary still plotting entities that are clipped. I attached the a zip file "PDF & Image.zip" which contains pdf files and a png screen shot to demonstrate my point. In my Autocad file, I'm printing from paperspace. I have multiple view ports, in the lower right corner is a viewport that all the layer colors are overwritten through the viewport to be color 253, the attached file "KEYPLAN.PNG" shows what it looks like on my screen (just how I want it). The attached file "KEYPLAN.PDF" shows how it looks when plotted/printed, I tried it on 3 different printers. You can see the whole viewport is filled with color 253 also I added a red rectangle and if you look there are larger circles (Grid bubbles) that are appearing when plotted, that are not shown on the screen, the larger circle are from the xref that is clipped or frozen. The attached file "A4.03.pdf" is the whole page plotted from paperspace, you can see the shaded viewport and clipped or hidden entities. Know here is why I say it is an AutoCAD issue and not my plotter/printers, if you look at attached file "A4.03 DS.pdf" the plot looks exactly like it supposed to, this file was plotted from another cad program that supports .dwg files.

I also included a zip file of my original cad file "A4.03.zip".

I'm using AutoCAD 2017 with SP1, running under windows 10.

Attached is the PDF from your file that I created with DWG TO PDF.PC3 using your own plot style table, and your file (AUDIT found errors, PURGE found a lot to get rid of). I see not problems.

Hi Dean,

I downloaded your attachment of the A4.03 drawing and it did plot correctly. however I noticed all your lines were white in paperspace, I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it. I did open my drawing with recover and found no errors also purged and mine still does not plot correctly. The only other thing that may be an issue is that I bound the xrefs before posting it so now attached is a zip file of my drawing with the xrefs not bound.

I have the windows anniversary edition, I read that there are some known issues with it. It is a new computer and It came that way so I can't roll back.

By the way how did you make everything white on black in paperspace? the lines are in color in model space and I don't see any overides?

Thanks,

Steve

>>>...however I noticed all your lines were white in paperspace...<<<
Go into pagesetup command in that layout and uncheck the box DISPLAY PLOT STYLES. I used that feature to double-check your plot style table before plotting. It has nothing to do with whether your file plots or not.

I'm not on WIn10 and I don't have your HP plotter: it may be the latter, I'm not sure the former is being reported as an issue.

I did try the export to autocad on my file however sit still shows the shading and the hidden entities too, see attchment. The drawing was created in autoCAD but the xref came from another source so maybe that is part of the problem?

Thanks John,

It is the viewport, however I can duplicate the problem with a new viewport. I create a viewport, set it to a scale, and lock the viewport. I then activate the viewport and then go to the layer manager. In the layer manager I sort by layers turned off, then I select the xrefed off layers and give them a color of 252. Then do a print preview and the new viewport is shown shaded and displays layers that are off. I'm not sure if all these steps are required but I am narrowing down the problem.

I normally don'y overide frozen or off layers but sometimes it is easier to select all the layers and change the color than to try and figure which ones actually apply yo the viewport.

Thanks,

Steve

Let's not worry about scale and locking until we freeze EVERYTHING that we don't need and then reassign all the remaining with a color such as 251.

BTW, when I did this I first did audit and purge and exporttoautocad on each of the files.

Hi @scrosley,

Excellent - at least now we have a way for you to keep producing. In the mean time I will try to duplicate and log as a defect if necessary.

Thanks for your patience on this issue.

I share printed out as PDF file for your dwg .

is this solution to you you can do

The FRAME system variable overrides the XCLIPFRAME setting. Use the XCLIPFRAME system variable after the FRAME system variable to reset the clipped xref frame settings
0
The frame is not visible and it is not plotted.
The frame temporarily reappears during selection preview or object selection.
1
The clipped xref frame is displayed and plotted
2 The clipped xref frame is displayed but not plotted

Hi faragello,

Thanks for the suggestion, however it is not the frame that I'm having problems with printing. The problem is xrefed cad entities that are on a frozen layer are printing because the xrefed layer color is over written to a different color.
