Hello DGorsman,

Thank you for your answer. Most of the drawings are in 2D and mostly with 1
or 2 Xrefs. I use solid hatchs. My drawing is 900 kb, the Xref 2.1 Mb, so
not that big. And yes, hardware acceleration is on.

So, not real special. I have done some opitmizing in AutoCAD and Windows (
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Optimize-Performance-within-Windows-7-Environments.html),
but I think there must be something else.

I hope you know some other solution.

Met vriendelijke groet,

Yvonne tas

EvenementenTekening.nl

De Gruyterfabriek, kantoor 1103
Veemarktkade 8
5222 AE 's-Hertogenbosch

073 75 13 991
06 13 920 890

www.evenemententekening.nl

Recently I have bought a MSI WS60 6QJ, with an Intel Core i7-6700 HQ processor (2.6 Hz), a Nvidia Quadro M2000M graphics card (4 GB), 16 GB Ram and Win 10 Pro. I work with AutoCAD 2017 (Design Suite, Sp1). AutoCAD is slow; my 4 years old HP is quicker...

Are there some special settings that I should know about?

Which video card is AutoCAD using? All laptops these days have the Intel + the extra you paid for and AutoCAD may be using the wrong one as described here https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD-uses-the-wrong-graphics-card.html

I notice your laptop also has a very slow 7200rpm HD.

The first issue I can see from your specs is a slow processor (only 2.6Ghz). Depending on the size and content of your drawings will cause lag during pan, zoom, hatch, etc. because the model information needs to be processed over and over again.

If you work on a new drawing, do you notice a performance hit? If not, you should clean up your drawings using purge and audit.

I am sorry to see that you are having some performance issues with your AutoCAD 2017 on Windows 10.

Are you working on a network(wired-wireless)?

What kind of drawing are you doing (2d - 3d - rendering)?

How large are your files?

Here is an AKN Article that might get you some performance improvements.

Adding to that, what are typical drawings? 2D, 3D? Are they being viewed in one of the rendered visual styles, or wireframe?

And stupid question time: has the graphics acceleration inside AutoCAD actually been turned on?

Hello Pendean,

Thank you for your answer. Good to read about the wrong graphics card, I
will check, and let you know if it solves the problem.

I have replaced the HD with a SSD, so that won't be the problem.

Another test after you confirm AutOCAD is actually using the correct video card but you still see no benefits: turn hardware acceleration OFF.

While you verify that your graphics card is being utilized properly, can you tell me what file version you save to? Are you saving to 2013? Sometimes saving to a legacy format can cause some issues.
