For that, you must need an unlimited data plan from an internet provider😊

Hi,

I installed AutoCad 2016 a week ago and uninstalled it today due constant wifi/internet data usage.

Is there a way to disable all communications or updates with any remote servers in AutoCad 2016 that could consume internet wifi while AutoCad 2016 is running? My monthly mobile wifi data is capped, resulting in running out of data very quickly if I enable AutoCad yet I would like to make use of the software if possible. My thought is to have AutoCad running from my laptop without connecting to the internet or network at all while still having the capped mobile wifi available to my laptop to do things like send and receive emails or do web browsing etc. I feel AutoCad updates etc. can take place when I get back to an uncapped wifi point.

Thank you.

AutoCAD itself doesn't do much with the internet. There's a couple of options to consider. Do you have CIP enabled? Are you using an older perpetual stand-alone license or a Desktop/rental-model license (although the latter shouldn't matter too much - license service is very low requirement and is intermittent).

Outside of AutoCAD there's a few things to consider. Are you signing in to A360 by default? Are you using it to actively synch drawings and/or settings?

Then there's the various Application Manager/Desktop manager/etc. utilities which check for downloads. Those can be turned off, you generally want to be checking/applying updates in an organized manner rather than on-the-go. Definitely want to be downloading program updates on a hard line...

You probably had other things going on. Unplug your PC (turn off wifi) from the internet and see what program protests would have been the better wiser thing to do.

Log out of A360 (or don't even install it), turn off sync in the ONLINE tab in OPTIONS, and set HELP to look for local files (also in OPTIONS command, SYSTEM tab).

HI @Anonymous,

AutoCAD will require an Internet connection to check your licensing from time-to-time. You can uninstall the AutoCAD Desktop Application to reduce some usage. You can also log out of A360 (top right of your AutoCAD window).

Thank you very much, I will look into the mentioned items that could be running in the background and see if I can make some changes.

Thank you,
I unplugged all that could be using wifi or Internet and realised the only program running was AutoCad at the time. Sadly, since uninstalling AutoCad today the data consumption dropped to almost zero. I will reinstall AutoCad and go for the setting adjustments as mentioned.
