Is there a way to add a connection point to a block? I've added a custom 2D electrical block that has some wire ends on it. I'd like to have connection points on those wire ends to which I can begin a new wire or connect an incoming wire.

Hi and Welcome to AutoDesk Forum,

Usually blocks inserted from a certain base point that user decide it and upon his need. osnap modes will help a lot in your case.BUT if you asking for a certain case it will help a lot if you attache it as CAD file.

I agree with @imadHabash -- it sounds like Object-snapping to the ENDpoints of those wire ends would do just what you want.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

From your question it sounds like you might actually be working in AutoCAD Electrical. Is this correct? If so, a connection means something different than what vanilla AutoCAD uses for blocks. We can move this thread to that forum also.

Typically, in vanilla AutoCAD users can snap to a variety of points on a block using OSNAPS. Another common tool is ti add a POINT to the block so that if the OSNAP is set to NODE then the location of the point is selected.

Yeah. It would be great to do a Snap to a temporary element like doing a Line command with a <Shift><E> to start from an endpoint, <Shift><M> for a midpoint, <Shift><I> for an intersection. Typically I have my Osnaps preset and just hover near where I want to start or end. But if you have multiple lines close together which I assume is your case then it's a hassle hitting just the one you want.

Not sure I said that right but I think you may catch my drift.

Hi @Anonymous,

Try the point/node suggestion to see if it works for you. A lot of third-party developers use it, as it allows setting a snap to node that likely isn't used much elsewhere in your drawings.
