Which fixes are you referring to?

If you mean the hires displays then, as mentioned by @john.vellek use AutoCAD 2017 update 1.1 or 2018 and it's ok.

If you mean anything else then let us know what is not working so we can answer every item in your list.

It would be not very trustful to say "yes, all your issues are solved" ... without knowing them.

I just watched the Microsoft press event showcasing the Surface Studio. Bluebeam software is supported and was demonstrated. It looks like this product would be perfect for drafting directly on a screen, especially using the Dial accessory (looks like a drafting table protractor!). I have been wanting to be able to draft on a screen since forever. Do you think AutoCAD will be supported?

can't really say since it has a geforce card which is known not be compatible with Autocad but some people have gotten to work and are using it fine

also don't know if Autocad will have issues with the high res display

I think that should have been "not supported" rather than "not compatible"; the latter would imply not working at all. Since DirectX is used for graphics (used to be OpenGL) for the currently supported releases, and DirectX is the bread and butter of the GeForce and other gaming lines, it's much less of an issue than what it used to be.

But yeah - until high resolutions are supported I think there's going to be an issue there.

You'd think it would be in Autodesk's best interest to gear itself towards this type of product. I can see Revit and 3DS Max being AMAZING with the use of a high def screen with a pen and the surface dial. Seems like a no brainer to me, I wonder how long of development it would take to push out a version of these programs with these features baked in?

Adesk released something a decade and a half ago that implemented that basic idea. don't recall what it was called, but was targeted at a single Sony computer.

It died fairly quickly......................

Al long as there's only a niche market, especially a single hardware suppllier, I would not expect anything really usable. Heck, there's still not a *Nix version of AutoCAD - and there are a lot more quality linux machines around than surfaces. (An no, i don't expect to see a linux version of AutoCAD in this lifetime)

At the VERY LEAST they could support high definition displays up to 4K. Touch optimizations in general should be made as well, as there are TONS of computers that are moving that direction. Yes, i agree, in an ideal world Autodesk would see the potential of this surface dial, but really, it shouldn't be too much of a stretch to get touch and high definition support

Well it sounds like there just isn't enough interest in drafting directly on a screen, as the Autodesk Labs Multitouch project has been dead for years: http://web.archive.org/web/20120111103921/http://labs.autodesk.com/technologies/multitouch/.

That Surface Dial, though... I can see so many possibilities of using that to draft on a screen.

As mentioned in many posts below, working on the Surface might have some issues. Hires support is available in AutoCAD 2017 Update 1 if you are on subscription. However, this configuration is not supported and I have seen many customers fighting the graphics card issue. This typically means that you will not be able to run with hardware acceleration turned on which can be detrimental to certain processes.

That would definitely be a Microsoft question. AutoCAD 2000i came out in 1999 so you would likely have to get it to run on Windows 95. I am thinking it is not going to work but with enough time and effort you might be able to make it happen.

Is Autodesk going to fix things so we can use our Studio? Just upgraded and I love the computer. But running CAD is just getting worse. When will Autodesk decide if they are going to fix the software? Running 2015 CAD and am willing to upgrade but I will be switching to Solid Works before I subscribe without knowing it will work. Can't get a answer over the phone. 4 people and 45 mins was enough.
