We are having plotting issues with AutoCAD 2017, Adobe Acrobat DC and Windows 10 combo. We have the DWG to Pdf.pc3 set to no layer info, no bookmarks and line overwrite. The files come out huge and we are not able to use custom stamps we created. Once we stamp one page and try to copy it over, it take a very long time. Are there known compatibility issues with DWG to Pdf.pc3 and windows 10? Any solutions? Anyone?

Dear Autodesk,

Since upgrading from Win 7 to Win 10 and recently installing AutoCAD 2017 on my PC, I am (still) having terrible problems plotting to PDF creators and our HP 1055CM plotter.

The message 'invalid hard copy configuration' comes up sometimes, but basically, I am just unable print successfully like I could with Win 7 and my previous 2013 version of CAD.

Any ideas, as this is causing me a few problems?

Thanks,

Stuart

Hello

*** 1 *** OLD HP DJ 1050/1055 problem ***

If I remember WELL the OLD HP DesignJet 1050/1055 Series have NO Win 10 drivers

So on Win Seven, the OLD HP DJ 1050/1055 driver were running OK ...

BUT after the Win 10 Update, the OLD HP DJ 1050/1055 driver has some strange problems !

I don't see any good and reliable solution ...except rolling back to Win Seven !?

*** 2 *** PDF Creator problem ***

For the PDF Creator problem : which version of PDF Creator are you using on Win 10 ??

*** 3 ***

Why you don't use the Autodesk PDF drivers ??

Sorry, Regards, Patrice

Hi,

Here's how I'm dealing with these issues with my students...

Use the DWG to PDF printer within AutoCAD. Be sure to have all print settings as you require (lineweight on, acad.ctb or other plot styles, etc...).

Be sure to print to the desired scale. If plotting from model space the scale is very necessary but if from paper space yo will likely be using a viewport or base views which are to be scaled before printing. The print settings for paper space is typically full scale (1:1). For choice of "What to plot?" I use extents and center the plot with no deviation from full scale.

Finally you can save the print to pdf and that gets you a very nice electronic document.

For printing a hardcopy you will have better success printing from Acrobat on older equipment. Even a Win10 generic driver can usually behave well for a print from Acrobat. Just be sure to select your desired paper size from Acrobat's print settings and DO NOT scale to fit. Your PDF should already be at your desired scale and any alteration in the Acrobat printing process will leave you with a hardcopy that is not to scale.

Hope some of this helps?

Blaine

Hi @Anonymous,

Yes, legacy plotters might present some issues with Windows 10 and AutoCAD 2017. Some users have found that using older HP drivers or the Universal print driver from HP fixes many issues.

As far as your PDF creation, I suggest using one of the built-in PDF drivers. If they work properly and the driver you are using does not, then I suggest posting on their forums to see if other customers have a solution there for you.

If you have any issues with the AutoCAD PDF drivers and need help, please let me know so I can give you some additional resources.

Hi @Anonymous,

Plese give me some clarification. Which PDF driver are you using? You mention Acrobat and then PDF.pcs (I don't know which driver this is utilizing). If you check the PDF options for the built-in PDF drivers make sure that you include hyperlinks as this for some reason keeps the file size much smaller. You might also check the raster options in the configuration and set to something as minimal as possible.
