For the last few months we have been getting bak files with conflict-# in them. The # just keeps going up with each save. Some of the job folders have 20-25 of these files. We are using AutoCAD versions 2016, 2015 and 2014 in the office. We do get Revit files from clients converted to DWG also.

Anyone have any ideas on what might be causing this and how to fix it?

Thank you in advance for any insight.

Scott

Hi @Anonymous,

I am curious is you have any special characters in your file/folder naming convention. I assume that you are working from a network.

Also, if you (on one workstation) work locally does that make a difference? Do you still end up with multiple backup files?

What kind of network and storage are you using?

Hello,

The file names are similar to this one "16127 - FLOOR PLAN.dwg". No special characters other than a -. Correct we are on a network.

I just tried to recreate the problem and didn't have any luck. I tried local and on the network. I also tried on all the different workstations. I must be a random thing.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the network or server. Someone off site takes care of all of that for us, but they don't know anything about AutoCAD.

Correct. The file names end up something like this "16127 - FLOOR PLAN-CONFLICT-1.bak".

I attached a screen capture of the file folder. Or at least I tried to attach it.

That has to be your storage appliance or some other intermediate process such as a EDMS. AutoCAD is not doing that on it's own.
