Fillet tool is not working in this drawing. It was transfered over from Microstation.

I thought it might have something to do with the UCS, however I'm not sure how to configure that exactly or if that is even the issue.

I do notice that when I reference copy it into a new file, the new file acts the same, however when I do a normal copy, all the fillets work well. Is it a bug?

Something wrong with that drawing. Even though it says it's in WCS, the UCS icon indicates otherwise.

Do your entities have to be out in coordinates with values in the billions (x)?

Example: 6090943856.965990,217432935.5231221,0.000000000000

If you pick up all the geometry and move it to 100,100 - everything starts working again.

Wow, kudos to you for figuring that out. Is there any way to get it to draw properly where it's at. If it were up to me, i think that's a great solution, however my boss isn't happy enough with that answer......hahahaha, if you know of any, please let me know, however if not, I'll just accept it as a solution cause I think my boss asking for too much.

Interestingly enough, I just tried it using an AutoCAD clone, and it works fine.

Short of moving the geometry, I don't know of another way. I tried moving the UCS origin near the geometry and that did not work either.

Maybe @john.vellek can research this from the inside, and come up with something?

Or could it have something to do with the way autocad computes the coordinates for the final fillet geometry. I recall during some programming exercises that computers usually only hold only a given amount of digits per item, and I figured it’s probably rounding because the billions place is taking up accuracy from the 100’s or 1000’s place?

Is there a way to change the number of placeholders autocad stores for it's fillets or general calculations?

You nailed it. This sort of explains it, in broken english however.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/About-data-accuracy-in-AutoCAD.html

As to your final question, the answer is to reduce the number of digits on the front side of the decimal....by....you guessed it.....moving the geometry....

I saw this problem immediately too. Instead of moving the objects I reset my limits to an area close (and including) the objects. After doing this it seemed to work fine.

Interesting. Can you make a screencast of that? I just tried it and I don't see any difference.

This one does work (not AutocAD)

I didn't try filleting all the intersections but the handful I did seemed to work fine. Obviously though, the geometry is a long way away from 0,0 and could likely cause issues.

Accuracy can only be taken out so far. On of my colleagues likes to use the example of AutoCAD measuring the precise distance from the Earth to the moon. This it can do. But, if you try to measure a deck of cards on the moon in the same drawing it will have problems.

It seems that the fillets work fine with it's two lines, but when you do an arc and line out that far it doesn't work.

Seems like a rounding thing in occurring in the background. There is no options for that? ANyways, I think moving things closer to 0,0 is the best solution so far. I figured I would ask if there was a system variable that you could change to make things more accurate that far out.
