WBLOCK changes location of objects

This has got me scratching my head.

I have a file that contains city-wide parcel lines so I am trying to clip it to just the area I need. I select the lines within my project area, and then use the WBLOCK command with a base point of (0,0,0).

When I used XREF to attach the file that I just created with WBLOCK, my parcel lines end up thousands of feet away, off in some seemingly random location. What gives?

Hi and Welcome to AutoDesk Forum,

if your UCS for both file are the same check from BASE command that you have the same coordinate in both files.

Why would my UCS change between files, if one was created from the other using WBLOCK?

I used the BASE command in both files and got (0,0,0) in both.

UPDATE: I just tested COPYCLIP and then PASTEORIG - which I use often with no issue - and I got the same result. I used PASTEORIG to insert the parcel lines into a drawing in which the parent file is xreferenced, and they are in totally the wrong place..
