Hi.

I'm currently using AutoCAD 2017 and when I try to add text to my drawings, the initial piece of text within the command shows the crosshairs and stays within the X & Y that are both set at 1 but then any further text that I try to add elsewhere on the drawing whilst the command is still active, no longer shows crosshairs and the text now behaves as if the snap is turned off.

Help!

Thanks, Jamie

Welcome to these Forums!

I wholeheartedly agree that this is a problem. It is a change in some version [I don't know which] more recent than 2004, in which Snap stayed in effect within a Text command. I don't have an answer -- I have taken to putting subsequent insertion points in the general vicinity of where I want them, and then afterwards Moving them by dragging the grips with Snap on and Ortho off. But depending on the zoom level and Text size and Snap setting, it sometimes requires turning Snap off momentarily to be able to grab the grip, then back on to take the Text where I want it. That was a bad change, especially since I can't imagine any possible advantage to having it work as it now does.

A wish list item....

Kent

Thanks for the reply.

I have previously used AutoCAD 95 and 2000 which both allowed the snap to stay on throughout the command which was a dream as I could enter plenty of information across a drawing in one hit and now 2017 has me entering the text and then moving it with the grips which is a lot more time consuming.

I was hoping that it was going to be as simple as ticking a box that is buried away in the options.

Thanks once again,

Jamie
