Noob Question about Extrude

Hello, Sorry for this noob question, but im really new to AutoCad

I use version AutoCAD2017 and have the following problem:

When i use a standard shape from the "DRAW" section like rectangle, circle or hexgon, i can draw that and then extrude it to a "block", if i draw a own shape with the line tool, and press extrude, i can only extrude the line it self. If i extrude all lines the object will be empty. How can i extrude own objects.

See attached an image, the cylinder is a extruded circle, and the other thing does not work 😞

Pleas help me!

Use PRESSPULL command

or you have to Pedit and multiple Join the entities before Extrude.

or make BOUNDARY, REGION from them, then you'll have 3d SOLID.
