Sorry, i didn't mean to come across ivory tower snooty, just saying I was blind to the issue before you posted it.

I'm nost sure what part is hanging up with your drawing. If you hit tab after your line length it will allow you to enter your angle "< 270"

I think you can even just type"<270" without tab and it will show the dynamic input at angels greater than 180.

"In most math libraries acos will usually return a value between 0 and π (in radians) which is 0° and 180°."

Evidently AutoDesk decided we don't need any degrees past 180. I'm using Dynamic input trying to input angles over 180 and there don't come out right. It took me a while to realize if my cursor is above the point I'm drawing from the angle is counter clockwise, but if it is below the point it is clockwise. I've tried all the settings I can find, but no way to turn this off.

If I have Ortho on and start a line and drag right, it shows 0 degrees.

If I drag it to the top of the screen it shows me 90 degrees.

To the left I get 180 degrees.

And drag to the bottom of the screen I get 90 degrees, why not 270.

If there is a variable somebody please let me know. If there isn't, why change this? And why not give a legacy variable.

Its part of the nuts and bolts of computational geometry.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD-Working-with-angles-larger-than-180-degrees.html

Its never really bothered me as my education has made me look at everything as relative so 270 is 90 from another mother. If you actually input 270 in your dynamic input box, it gives you the desired outcome.

Well, I'm glad your educated, I'm used to dealing with 360 degrees. If this is the case, how come when you set your units and pick a direction AutoCAD has 270 degrees.

Inputting 270 degrees in dynamic input will not give you a line at 270 degrees if your cursor is below the start point. That's my problem, if I type 270, it should draw it at 270, not dependant on my cursor position

This might actually be a bug...

I can get the tracking to show angles greater than 180 after entering a distance and hitting "<"

This leads me to believe it might be supposed to do that already...

I did take it wrong, no problem. If you look at the attachment you can see there are two 90 degrees. That is the problem. I tried what you said and just entered <330 at the prompt. It is still based on the location of your cursor. if your cursor is above the start point it is counter clockwise, if it is below the cursor point it is clockwise. I want absolute angles, I type an angle in and it gives me an line on that angle. I have a wired mouse, if I take my hand off the mouse my cursor will move. This could put the cursor above or below the start point, that's why I want it to be what I call absolute instead of absolute cursor dependant.

I have added another screen grab. both lines started from the same point, I used TAB to switch to the angle and typed 330 and TAB. The only difference is where the cursor was in relation to the start point. One was above and one was below.

What program are you using for screen capture?

I'm not familiar with dynamic input, but are you just simply trying to draw lines by angle? I use the draw line by angle command all the time and it works no matter what angle you enter

Actually I'm drawing plines, but the basic commands are the same. This is something that was there and worked. There could be a variable that I need to switch, but I haven't found it. I am trying to figure out why it was changed, and if there is a way to switch it back. There is plenty of ways to draw a line, this is one of them, and it makes no sense to change something that worked for something that is stupid.

Ok I think i gotcha now.

Change DYNMODE to 2 and see if this is what you are looking for.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2016/ENU/AutoCAD-Core/files/GUID-1ED138FF-2679-45C4-9C2C-332A821C9D12-htm.html

The video screen capture is a free program from Autodesk called Screencast. It great for this kind of stuff.
