Hi Paul,

I am not sure why he would do that while the rest of the drawings on the model space all measure properly. Why not just do it on another file? I hear engineers do this a lot. How did you change it? I am trying to figure out how to do it myself if the problem arises again. The only issue now is that if you dimension it the dims are double. For example the 4 is now 8 etc. Thank you though.

Hello,

I have been given a drawing from an engineer to adjust which I originally did not create. I am having a difficult time because the measurements on one of the drawings in the model space do not match when using the measure tool. The drawing has dimensions on it already. Some of them read half or completely off ex. the dimension reads 6' but when I measure it it's 1'6". There are other drawings as well in the same model space and those read properly and all the dimensions are accurate when I use the measure tool. I am not sure how this was drawn or why they are off. When printed out to 1/8" scale though, I measured it with my ruler, and the dimensions are correct. The thing is I need to adjust it but first I need to figure out why the dimensions don't work on AutoCAD for me. I hope someone can help.

Hello @Caro0788

It looks like the person who worked on this drawing has overridden the dimension text. Select similar all the dimensions and remove the "text override" from the properties. Please find the updated drawing attached.

I'm not sure why this dwg was scaled down either. Your guess is as good as mine.

But since it was & you have to work on it, then the best thing to do is correct it.

What I did is simple.

While in Model tab first, make sure all layers are turned on, thawed & unlocked.

Then I used the SCALE command and then the ALL option.

Hit Enter one more time to complete selection.

For base point I just entered: 0,0

For scale factor is where I entered: 2

As for the dimensions, just don't use the dimension style that's currently setup.

I tend to use Annotative Dimensions (see attached revised dwg).

You can also follow along the typical setup procedures I go through with not only Dimensions but also Texts and Units in attached pdf.
