AutoCAD 2024 locks up during plot to PDF

I must force quit with no opportunity to save or even report the issue.

There are no saved versions, so it is going back to the mark.

I recently installed BLUEBEAM on the machine could this be interfering with it?

Did you remember to turn off background plotting and publishing?
If you remove BLUEBEAM does the issue go away?

What’s the plot device you are using to plot? Are you just plotting using Blubeam that’s crashing or have you tried one of the other pdf devices packaged with AutoCAD?

Do a screen capture of your Plot window and share that here

Also does the problem occur every time on all dwgs when you run Plot command?

No one here is Autodesk, we are end users just like you: if you meant "AutoCAD", aka the name of your program, I think @paullimapa meant what PDF driver are you aiming to use when the program freezes on you.

my only way out is to force quit and lose all work, it does not even back up the file!

Is this a VPN use situation, or on office?

Which PDF driver is that? How about the other 4+ that install OOTB?

Where are the PDFs supposed to end up? And where are the DWG file(s) stored?

Have you installed the 2024.1 Update yet? ABOUT command will confirm what you have installed. If not, get it from your Autodesk Account Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/updates
Restart your PC afterwards.

Did you use the migration tool when starting this new 2024? then reset or even better reinstall 2024 to remove all of that, you want a clean install.

Did you remember to turn off background plotting and publishing? Do so now, restart your AutoCAD and test again.

"me too" and "same but..." mean little around here if everything changes.

a couple of screenshots, I reinstalled from Scratch but other APPS I kept were ACAD Electrical 2024, PLANT 3D 2024, Mechanical 2024 and MAAP 2022

Do I have to uninstall all of these to get a clean install?

You didn't respond to that, so again:

Make sure BACKGROUNDPLOT for publishing is OFF (0 or 1)

and use the 'Publish in' option: PDF

Usual rule, save your work from time to time, specially before you start function which you have trouble often.

And the publish list can saved too.

Autocad don't have a automated Backup, just isavebak for backup the (pre-)last saved file version.

The "internal" Automatic Save file, can safe your unsaved edits, but it is not bulletproof, so as a user you shouldn't rely on that.

Automatic Save (SV$) drawing file – A temporary drawing file created after a specified time interval has been reached since the last time the open drawing was saved. Controlled by the Automatic Save, or Autosave, feature of AutoCAD.
Attention: The Automatic Save timer is reset each time the drawing is saved. This can cause AutoCAD to never create an Automatic Save (SV$) drawing file for an open drawing. So, for example, if you have the time interval for the Autosave feature set to 10 minutes, and you perform a save operation every 2-5 minutes, an SV$ file won’t be created.

In the Plot window try changing Shade Plot to As Displayed then Quality to normal

Also does the freeze occur with other built in pdf devices like Dwg To Pdf?

THANKS – turning off BACKGROULD PLOT Seems to have worked for now, I did bot even know that command.

I have not seen this kind of crashing since release 13 (not 2013) when Acad released patch A, B C and D. I will keep on saving and exiting for now (like I did in R13) but that is a really time consuming work around.

Publish in background is also an Option in PublishDialog and OptionsDialog.
