Multiple instances of application

Hi,

I have tried all available solutions online like setting the SDI to 0, or verifying if it was set at 0. and also the technical support team tried to resolve this issue , but failed. They directed me to contact Autodesk.

Issue: Each time I open a new drawing in AutoCAD 2017 LT, the drawing opens in a new window, like re-loading the application, which is about a 15-20 second wait time.

I have mentioned above , that the tech support team has tried all the suggestions in that page. Only task remaining is to uninstall the software completely and re-installing it, but I highly doubt that it might be a waste time.

I always thought SDI using 1 opens 1 drawing

0 opens multiple.

Sure you mentioned it, how can I guess the method they used.

Would you know of any other solution? Maybe an Autodesk support could troubleshoot this problem remotely?

what steps are you taking to open a new drawing? (opening from within autocad or opening from your OS's explorer)

Well I double click on the drawing file, in this case a new instance happens, otherwise when I open a file from the application window, it opens in the same window, in a new tab.

Have you tried right clicking and running the program as administrator? or more correctly logging in as administrator.

Often missed, but changing SDI then restart the PC to make it works.

OPEN command is the best way to open a new drawing: any reason you shy away from using it more often?

There is nothing inside AutoCAD to address why Windows OS is opening new sessions. What is the application associated with the DWG file in Windows Explorer?
