Hi,

are you speaking about dimensions or about (parametric) constraints?

Second one allows you to show an object similar to a dimension and then enter a value to change the size of that object .... (but that's not a dimension)

I used to work on an auto cad that is programmed to ask me to enter the dimension text whenever I enter a new dimension which is very useful for me because some times I want to add suffix or prefix as required. however, I don't know how to activate this feature can anyone assists me on this matter?

Like this?

That was a way to make "Error" dimensions

So nothing changed between these two versions as far as dimensioning goes: what dim commands are you using and were using in the older version?
Are you in a file from 2015 that worked thew way you want?

Otherwise, as noted above, what the commandline and enter T when prompted, or double-click on the dimension text after creation to edit.

i'm not sure about the one that you showed me but I can describe the steps I used to do

1- Select the dimension command

2- Select first and second point

3- Here auto cad asks me what text to show in the dimension text box so I write for example "1200 mm"

3- Here auto cad asks me what text to show in the dimension text box so I write for example "1200 mm"

You typed in additional mm or 1200 mm ?

Many here would tell you that is the Override way and that's an invitation for huge mistake.

Why didn't you add the mm in Dimstyle?

For item #3, the dimension was non-associative and EXPLODED!
Look into DIMASSOC. 1 or 2 should be the norm.

Forever ditch that thought about DIMASSOC being 0 and apply your
prefix or suffix in the properties palette (Text override). To maintain
associativity, place the greater-than / less-than symbols somewhere inside.

Example: <> micro millimeters

If you wish to have a permanent prefix or suffix, look into DIMPOST and
incorporate into a (unique) dimension style.

If the dimension values are not what you expect, then do a better
job with your drafting practices. Do not investigate DIMRND to
solve this.

Exploded dimensions is cause for employee termination over here.

And Welcome to these Forums.

???

I would type 1200 mm, 1.2 m, N.T.S or anything I want and it would show in the text box instead of the actual dimension.
