Text overlaps when printing! Help!

Hi there,

My drawings have recently had a change in text style. I thought this might be due to an update occurring within CAD. Now when I am working in paper-space, the text is fine, but once it's printed it is all mis-aligned causing it to run over lines. How can I correct this?

Missing these images...you should use the eTransmit command which would package these images along with your dwg.

But I don't see that problem when I print without those images.

Have you tried unloading the images to see if that makes a difference?

I don't believe the images have an impact. I deleted the image files from CAD and it's still printing slanted on my end.

Could it be possible the text is slightly rotated within 3D space causing it to print in italics/off the page? I've been using this CAD Template for almost a year without issues to text mis-aligning at print-to-pdf. Very odd!

Should not be the issue since I don’t have that problem. What version of AutoCAD are you running and do you have latest updates installed? Enter About command do a screenshot and share that here

In the Plot window, with DWG To PDF.pc3 as the printer/plotter click on PDF Options

Do you have Capture fonts used in the drawing?

@CallumMX9DR You have a font substitution issue in your PDF, nothing more: share that actual file here, let's see what is behind that from the settings you opted into.

Yes, I have that selected! Very odd, wonder what the source of this could be.

I do usually print via an alternative plot tool that just goes through some of the questions for me.

Have you tried just manually plotting by using AutoCADs Plot command to create the pdf?

Just tested that out, and there is still the issue of text becoming italic and running past where it is on the page in CAD. Alas! I think we're narrowing it down at least

Unfortunately, I'm not able to replicate your issue on my end so I can't come up with a solution when I don't experience the same problem.

I was able to get the text to stop over-running the boxes on my tables, and got them off italics by going into the Text Style options and trying to alter things in there. However, now everything is stuck on bold, and I'm not seeing a 'regular' option for Arial font. Is that the standard text in CAD? If not, what is, I think that could help straighten things out.

In your drawing all your Texts inside Table & MLeader are all using the Standard Text Style.

I enter the STYLE command and Standard is using Arial font which works fine for me both viewing on the AutoCAD graphics screen like you but no problems with the printed PDF.

You can try a completely different font using AutoCAD shx files like SIMPLEX just as a test to see if it makes a difference on your end when you PLOT.

As you can see again for me I don't see any displacement or changes with any TEXT on the PDF.

Easy? Well, your PDF clearly shows it has a substitute font in use from your customize-to-you PC3 file

Since we that use 2025 over here cannot replicate your PDF output issue (see attached), my guess is you have a rogue PC3 file. Try the other PDF drivers you have installed.

I think resetting the font type to Standard has helped, but for some reason there's no option under Font Style for me to select 'Regular'

The only options available are Bold, Bold Italics, and Italics. Do you know how I could reset this to include the option for 'Regular' as well?

I tried plotting the file using my custom PC3 plot command as well as the AutoCAD 'plot' command that should have circumvented any issues with my 'rogue' PC3 but it still printed in italics. How would I delete the substitute font in use here?

You should NOT have to reset to Standard since as I posted your Table & MLeader styles are both using Text Style called Standard already.

As I also posted as a test enter Style command and change the Font from Arial to Simplex.shx and see if that makes a difference when you plot to PDF.

Hi Paul,

This helped! However, it worked for a portion of text on the plans. It worked for the leaders as they are on the page. It worked for the table, but text in a viewport is still be exported as italics. So it seems like the text within the model space is the one that's being changed?

Would you recommend un-installing and re-installing CAD to fix this?

Researching online suggests: "When fonts in AutoCAD viewports change unexpectedly, it's often due to missing fonts, incorrect font mappings, or corrupted user settings, which can lead to text displaying with different styles or even disappearing. "

I need this program for work, so fixing this issue is pretty important, any additional insights are appreciated, thank you!
