Locking Z values to existing elevations.

Hello.

I am trying to keep the z elevations how they are.

In other words I am using 3d features regarding elevations but I also need to use o-snap features.

I am looking for a command or a way to lock the elevations, so I would be able to move the desired level point / objects / whatever even if it snaps to an object, I desire to have the same initial elevations.

Usually when you move elevations and the snap to an object they either add the value of the snapped object or move it to the same level.

I hope I have been explicit and clear enough...

Explore the system variable OSNAPZ. It should help you do what you want.

Another approach is with point-coordinate filters. When it's asking for a new location, type .XY [with the preceding period/decimal], Osnap to whatever, and it will ask for a Z value -- Osnap to the point you're altering at its original location to have it use its original Z coordinate.
