Fatal Error Message AutoCAD 2017

Hi there,

This is the first time I've had trouble with my AutoCad and I've searched high and low for solutions. I opened up an existing project and Saved As the drawing to a new project since all the settings are the same. I've finished the drawing and when I went to plot it to save as a PDF, the error message below showed up:

The program shut down after that. I've tried opening a new file and transferring the contents over. I've tried troubleshooting and resetting things. When I transferred the drawing to a new file, I tried plotting the paper space layout without setting it up and it worked. It was only when I brought in the title block and viewports that it gave me this second error message:

All my other drawings have the same title block and they all still work. It's just this one drawing. I've tried everything short of uninstalling the program. Help!!

Sorry, but this doesn't help me @Otto. AutoCad only freezes on me when I try to plot the drawing, otherwise I can work on it and save it as much as I want.

Did you read the part of the reply you are answering where it says:
"I'm a software-based HelpBot,..."

I couldn't get it to fail on my side either but just to be cautious, I ran Audit, Purge, -Purge>Regapps, and finally Exportoautocad.

I saved the file you gave me and I tried inputting some text. When I tried plotting it, it's giving me the same "FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Writing 0x0024 Exception at 7733f7dbh"

Hi @Anonymous, Strange - did it work the first time I sent it back (before you edited it)?

Try this file. I copied the contents of your modelspace into a new file and then imported the layout from your original too.

@john.vellek, I saved it on my computer and tried plotting, which worked the first time. So then I tried editing it, nothing big, some added a one-line text in paperspace. I saved it and tried plotting it and the message creeped back up again. Is it my computer maybe?

Hi @Anonymous,

It might be worth trying a repair (Windows Control Panel>Programs) and possibly even a Reset Settings to Default.

Which version of AutoCAD are you running (type ABOUT at the command line)?

If you create a new user account in Windows and logon using that account does it still crash?

I've tried the Control Panel repair solution. It worked for a little bit but the message returned (with different sets of numbers/letters).

I'm running AutoCad 2017

I'm going to try uninstalling it and reinstalling it again.

Hi @Anonymous,

Before you do a reinstall, have you applied the service pack and updates?

Also, I would try a Reset Settings to Default to see if it helps. Also, consider check to see if a newer graphics card driver might be available.

Lastly, you might try using a different PDF driver such as the AutoCAD PDF (General Documentation) to see if that helps.
