Hello

I have been sent a dwg drawing and I would like to take the read only off it and change drawing to millimetres, can someone help please

The drawing is not read only. Probably you have to look at that on your PC.
To change the units, simply type Units.
Maybe you have to scale the drawing to make the size correct.

read only files usually caused by a lot of reason:

if CAD file used and opened from another user.
delete any .dwl files existing in the same folder relate to your CAD file WHEN it's closed and there is nobody open it.

Hi @rayHYSJJ,

To change the file properties, rt-click on the file in Windows Explorer and select Properties. You should be able to Un-check the Read-only attribute.

I have attached a copy of your file that I saved in DWG format for you.

For units, you can use -dwgunits to change the units and scale of the objects in your file. Or, as @Rob67ert suggests you can use the Units command as well.

"Save as..." usually works to fix that. While the file is open in AutoCAD, save it to a location on your hard drive or network, rather than editing the file in the email attachment.
