Hi Brian,

When I select the Xref(s) and then Bind I have the option to Insert. When I select it I end up with blocks of the previously xreferenced files. I can then copy them and paste into a new drawing. Is this what you are trying to do? if not, I apologize. Friday afternoon and all that 🙂

I understand about binding and how it works, but it is not really what I want.

I need to take multiple xrefs, combine them, and then have all those entities pasted into a new drawing with no xrefing.

I can bind the drawings, but all the data, etc. follows it. Essentially it is a floor plan, and I want it brought over as a stand alone file, and binding does not work for this task.

Is there any other way to export and convert for what I need?

Thanks for any help.

Does an Inert Bind not do this for you? Perhaps i misunderstand what you are trying to do. Are you trying to bind just the xrefs into a single file separate from the Master?

What is happening is I bind the xref then it is a single entity in the
drawing.

What I would like to do, is copy the binded xref with crtl-c and paste it
into a new drawing as a non-binded entity.

Thanks,

Brian

I should have attached this. Here is the e-transmit of what I am working with. I would like to combine the floor plan, put it on a single layer and screen it 50%. It is getting it to a single layer that is the problem. I have many many floors in many many communities I have to do this, so I do not want to have to work with the xrefs.

Hi @jbaflyer

Because the A-FP62 file had nested Xrefs it didn’t like being bound. So I opened it and bound all the nested Xrefs. I then removed the few that weren’t present. Then I saved and closed it. I went back into your 2nd floor master and was then able to bind the XREF with an Insert Bind.

John, Thank you so much. You have no idea.

So to understand correctly, the A-FP62 file needed to be opened separately, then saved and closed. Then when you opened the flooring layout file, you could bind and insert.

I would have never had thought of that.

Thank you.
