MATCHPROP without rotation for Text/MText

Hello All,

I have a MATCHPROP command question. Can I MP without it rotating? I have gone into settings dialog box and there is no place to change this. I have seen posts with lisp files and for some reason it won't work on 2016 version. I may be doing something wrong, but you would think this would be resolved by now with some of the post dating back to 2004/5... Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can match properties as follows so you do not rotate the text:
- command matchprop
- select the text from where you will copy the properties and before selecting the other text, type "s" and hit enter, you will get a window
- in special properties, you remove the check in "text", then select the text and apply to match properties without rotating the text.

That depends -- see the other thread about this.

[And @Anonymous, it's better not to duplicate a question like this. If a solution is found and appears in one such thread, someone else Searching for the same thing might happen to find the other thread, and not know that there's a solution.]

Yes, you are correct that there is no option to deselect rotation. You can uncheck Text in the settings but then no other matching will occur your text objects.

I tried this LISP routine I found on AUGI and it works fine in my AutoCAD 2016. It does not change all the properties.

It is designed to capture:

Style (assoc 7)

Layer (assoc 8)

Text height (assoc 40)

History:

This particular routine, though originally not named as such, was part

of a library of customization a certain individual brought with him when

he was hired back when release 12 was the current AutoCAD (not R2012).

This person along with 3 others began our transition out of manual

drafting. Computers were 386/33 with 4 MB RAM and cost $4000usd.

On some towers, pushing the button on front changed the LED display

from reading 33 to reading 50 - Ooooo... Whopping speed!

At the time the width factor was not needed. Moving on to another

menu system, the width factor is needed and the program rewritten.

Command aliases "MM" and/or "MP" to us, is for MATCHPROP.

Placing a "T" in between, for "Text", the custom routine is called

"MatchTextProperties" (c:MTP).

I always snicker to myself whenever the "don't rotate the text" issue

is mentioned since we never had this issue.

Hi,

This is my first stab at installing a LISP command.

I was able to load the .fas file into CAD, and it allowed me to run the "MTP" command to pull up the Match Text Properties function.

However, when it comes time to select the text with the desired properties, I get the error message below.

Command: MTP
Match Text Properties (Style, Height, Width, Color, Layer)...
Select objects: 1 found
Select objects:
Select text object with desired properties: ; error: no function definition: DCAD-ENTMOD

and do they actually listen!? so many commands should be in the program. I have to waste hours a week figure work arounds for simple commands in other programs. Microstation has 99% of issues in autocad solved. when you match properties of text or objects, you can decide what is maatched and what isnt. Why autocad cannot figure that out is beyond me. in Microstation Commands work smoothly, i dont need to google why things dont work and read threads from 10 years ago with the same issues. Autocad is complete dog ****. Microstation doesnt freeze or crash every 5 minutes. All 20 lisps that I need to load into autocad are simple check boxes in the normal commands of microstation. I made a whole pros cons list for microstation vs autocad and the people at microstation are the only ones who wanted to interview about their product and how to make it better. With autocad the best youll get is an updated logo every two years and countless hours taken away from your life. Honestly autocad makes me wish i never started drafting/design

Many here would totally agree: but then again, if MS serves your business needs so well, you ought to be using it all the time if you have any say or control on that choice of course.

If not, there is quite the challenge for any of us to "forget" what could be done elsewhere then ensure we are using the correct AutoCAD variant first (6-ish variants are free to anyone on subscription) before we dig for LISP or VBA or ARX or other methods to get it done.

In these forums, if you wish to add your own single-task posts for what you seek, many users here will help point you to what you seek as much as they can.
