dashed line that follows a cursor

I was wondering how to shut off the dashed ref line that shows up when you do an edit such as (for ex.'s) copy or move or rotate an object from one point to other places, it is the line that connects from the grip of the copied entity back to the original point of copy. I don't know what it is called, and it only shows as a ref dashed line that moves with the cursor until the command is finished. It isn't an actual line. I am also what purpose it is there for. That cannot be turned off or adjusted in any way. Please see:

Do you mean the "rubber band" that goes from the initial cursor click location to the current cursor location in a move command? If so, may I ask why? The rubberband is an option in VLSIP when specifying a point location

Hi,

if you're talking about the cursorbadge, you can turn it off by CURSORBADGE system variable. if you set it to (1) it will Turns off cursor badges used in the following commands: AREA, COPY, DIST, ERASE, ID, LIST, MASSPROP, MEASUREGEOM, MOVE, ROTATE, SCALE, TRIM, and ZOOM.

I had the same problem whilst using Autoplant 2017.

I hit the F10 button on my keyboard and it cleared it.

in AutoCAD .... F10 ( Polar tracking ) used for Guides cursor movement to specified angles >> Click << . the OP was asking for the rubber band .

Here's another example.

I'm trying to snap to the cyan diamond, but because of the green dashed line the crosshairs are not locating the white line with x's (the cyan diamond).

It does act like the ORTHO feature but it was off when in this instance.

My Polar is set to 45° and it was not tracking the 45° direction only the 90° direction.

Also, it was like it was extending in the 90° direction especially if I moved the crosshairs in a 90° direction

Thanks to those who tried to help. But I figured it out on my own.

It's called Object Snap Tracking. It tracks the cursor along vertical and horizontal alignment paths from object snap points.
