They are saying that there are section lines in autocad but I couldnt find the command. Is there such a command in autocad?

if you are searching about "sections" then make Google your friend: >>>click<<<

The term "section line" can be found within commands in AutoCAD, but it is not a command itself or an object in AutoCAD.

Hi,

Section lines, in technical drafting, are "Hatch" objects in AutoCAD. The section line shows the inside of material that is being illustrated by a corresponding cutting plane in an adjacent view.

Hi Priya,

I am not sure what you mean by Section Lines. Here is an article that describes the Section command.

If this is not what you are looking for then perhaps you are trying to use Viewbase to create a plan view and then Projected or Section views from it. This does include lines indicated where your section is cut.

They said they want section lines through plan with arrow showing which side we are viewing from and then draw the sections. I couldnt find section lines in the menus. She said the section lines I've drawn are wrong. How to do it?

Seems to be a clear statement, in your "section lines" the arrows are missing.

She said there is a inbuilt command in autocad to draw that line which you showed. Like where is it?

Only when your drawing is full constructed in 3D ... than follow @john.vellek 's post (post 4 in this thread) and the functionality of _VIEWBASE (and then _VIEWSECTION >>>details<<<)

IMHO There is no such command available in AutoCAD (Vanilla) for just drawing such an object in model-space.

I drew the section lines. Like in the section of kitchen I drew rectangles to the side view of stove and cutting tables but she said its not right. Is it right? Or else how should I draw it?

Your Section A-A lines should show the view I indicate with the yellow arrow.

I mean no disrespect but I must recommend that you pickup a book on blueprint reading/standards. If you have a job where you need to create/edit drawings (or prints) then you should be aware of the standard practices in technical drawings or blueprints. You could also consider an actual CAD class that will not only teach you the use of CAD software but will also convey many standard practices in the drafting field.

I only suggest this because of the vague nature of your initial question and you obvious gap in knowing or understanding how to apply the suggested techniques within the software.

Good luck and please consider studying the entire subject more. It will payoff in time savings and personal gratification.

There's no section command in AutoCAD that I know of, there's an option in Revit which is where you may be getting confused?

Sections in AutoCAD are used and marked with the use of a block, which you can set attributes on to change in the drawing without editing the block.

I have attached a DWG with a few section blocks on for your use should they help. You can add the blocks to a tool palette for quick answer.

NOTE: The block are drawn at 1:50 scale, feel free to scale to suit your drawing, we usually make the block so the text is 2.5 in paper space.

When I open the file, a message pops up that it contains authoring elements and should it be opened it block editor. Should it be opened in block editor?

Today I showed it to him and he said take a printout. I'm getting my certificate. Thanks alot for your help. Autocad is just great.

Hi Priya,

When you are prompted to open a drawing file in Block Editor it means that the drawing is a dynamic block. unless you want to edit and make changes you should not open in Block Editor. Instead, insert it into a drawing as a block.

in paperspace, type VP for Viewportd and select the viewport option you want, insert it like you would draw a rectangle and the data in modelspace should appear. Double click in the viewport and scale to size, you can use the roller as per usual or the scale option on the bottom right of your screen.
