Custom command alias keys

I have successfully created command alias shortcuts. For example, I like to use the keyboard alias CC for the copy command instead of the default CO or CP. The problem I am having is that AutoCAD 2017 has the autocomplete feature that takes me to an alternate command instead of using my alias. Any ideas on a fix or workaround?

Hi @Anonymous,

How are you defining your shortcut (alias) keys. If they are done in the PGP file then autocomplete should allow you to enter the shortcut and display the associated command.

For Instance, I added an alias JMV (my initials) and associated it with the INSERT command. When I type JMV now at the command line it shows JMV (Insert).

I defined the aliases using the command alias editor under the express tools pulldown. I was sure to apply the changes before exiting the editor. When I go back into the editor I can see the changes that I made. I even get a message that the editor is updating the PGP file. However, I do not see my alias in the autocomplete shortcut.

Hi @Anonymous,

Weird huh? Is your PGP file in a unique location (non-standard)? If you type CC does it still work (you might have to turn off AutoComplete to test). I created your alias on my side and it works fine.

Perhaps another thing to try is to edit the PGP file using Notepad. You might also check to see if you have any other entries for CC or if you have any other routines that use it. Perhaps try a unique set of characters such as ZX. (Just to test)

The Aliases I added show up at the very bottom of the PGP file under the section labeled User Defined Command Aliases.

Hi @Anonymous,

Did you have a chance to open the PGP file manually? It would be nice to see what is being entered. Also, make sure that you don't have more than one PGP file in your file path.
