Sometimes that happens when you have a hatch with a big pattern like angle for example. With quickselection - QSEL->object type: hatch you should be able to find it.

I have a hatch showing up on a sheet that the base file is xref'd to. When I open the base file, the hatch does not show up. I have other hatches that are visible from other layers, aka not a FILLMODE issue. There is other line work on this layer that is also visible, so I know the layer is on/visible and that the hatch should be seen. This hatch is unwanted and I'm trying to delete it.

This probably isn't it, but I had this problem earlier and it was driving me nuts. I was working on an old project from before I worked at my firm. I was trying to delete a hatch but when I opened the xref it wasn't there. It was a super dumb fix, but I zoomed out extents and whoever made the drawing originally just make a copy of the plan to put the hatches in. I'm not sure why. There was actually 8 copies of the plan in the xref all slightly different. I never noticed the other plans because when I opened the xref it opened zoomed in right by what I was looking, but it was in actually a copy of what I was looking for. When I zoomed extents I couldn't believe it. haha spent 30 minutes trying to find it and was ready to smash the computer and kept mumble WtF it should be right here. Well it was right there just not in the plan I was looking at but a copy next to it.

You can try QSELECT and select all the hatches in the drawing to see if it will select it. Is the hatch referenced in from another drawing deep?

I had someone hatch something in paper space once too just being lazy. Took me a second to figure out why it wasn't in model space that time too. It was so obvious you just don't think to look for that kinds of stuff sometimes in drawings many people have hands in.

The QSELECT did allow me to isolate, select and delete the invisible hatch. So thanks for that. I'd love to know how/why this hatch isn't visible...

Hi,

First zoom extend the drawing and try Laywalk (layw) command and check whether you are able to see the hatch for deleting it. If it did not help you please attach the drawing.

Thanks & Best Regards

Vinay

Hatch should show if xref'd into another file. Is selectable through QSELECT command, Hatch, Wall-N layer (cyan in color).

Was able to deleted it which solved my problem.

Hi,

there is a proxy elements exist in your drawing which come usually from another application (see below image)

if you are talking about the cyan hatch that appeared at the above of the image attached below, this appeared in the origin CAD file (not xrefed).

any way...to get rid of this weird hatch i suggest to clean your drawing by Audit and purge(Regapp) and also remove proxy objects from your drawing by AECTOACAD command.see this article Here and read more about it.also see the note appear in down right corner in the below image.

Good Luck...

Here is how it's showing up for me. LEFT, base file after QSELECT just show you get an idea of location, because it is not visible. RIGHT is the sheet file where the mystery hatch appears. Appreciate the thoughts and ideas.
