EXPORTPDF creates a PDF which cannot be opened by anyone else.

Hi all,

I am using AutoCAD LT 2017 on windows 10. When I use EXPORTPDF or PUBLISH to turn a layer into a PDF then that PDF can only be opened by myself. When other computers try to open/copy the PDF it comes up with an error that they have no permision to do so. Using the command PLOT produces a PDF which can be opened by everyone else.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how i can use the EXPORTPDF command succesfully?

Try without accessing Autocad as Admin and try once.

Originaly I was not running AutoCAD as an admin. I tried as an Admin but there was no difference.

Post this PDF that you cannot open here ofr us to try.
Also post a screenshot of your PUBLISH command pop-up.

EDIT: When e-mailing the PDF it seems that it can then be used as normal, it is only whilst it is on my computer and trying to be accessed through the server that it cannot be opened. (Other PDF's can be used through the server).

Hi @Anonymous,

This sounds like a network issue and not an AutoCAD one. I can open your PDF without issue.

Are you creating the PDF locally and then moving to the server/network share? Or, are you creating the PDF on the network directly?

It sounds like there might be something wrong with your Windows profile.

As noted by others, there is nothing wrong with your PDF, it opens fine.

Talk with your I.T. folks, you have a system/network glitch or a dead PDF reader, nothing more.

All your LT2017 screenshots look fine to me.

Good morning,

Upon further investigation I have discovered that when exporting the drawing to a PDF, the different ways of doing so assign different sharing properties to the files.

The properties on the left are the EXPORTPDF version and the one on the right is the result of the PLOT command when in a shared folder.

It makes no difference whether the document is created in a shared folder or whether it is created in another folder and then moved to a shared folder or whether the DWG is located in the shared folder or not.

When I send the document via e-mail or other means, the security permisions take the properties of the recieving computer.

AS noted earlier by others, you and your I.T. team need to be addressing this problem, AutoCAd alone will not override system or network settings.

Hi @Anonymous,

AutoCAD does not assign file permissions especially on printed files.

I suggest that your IT person look at user permissions or file share permissions to see if there is something set different for your other users.
