Added Fonts not coming through to Acad

I have just added a couple of new fonts to Windows and it is now available in all my Cad packages except AutoCad the Font is "DinPro Bold" and "DInPro-Medium". It is a .ttf or .otf .

Has anyone had any luck fixing a similar problem?

I'm not familiar with those fonts. Just remember that fonts must follow the drawing where ever it goes or the text using those fonts in the drawing will not display as desired. We NEVER use fonts other than those that come OOTB just for that reason.

Thanks, yes I understand bit it's the companies (Head office Germany) Logo. I am setting up the Drawing Template so I need this Font. It comes through to SolidWorks but not AutoCad. I don't care if someone else (who doesn't have the Font) opens the Drawing, we only send pdf's so I don't think it will be a problem.

HI,

usually AutoCAD depend on FONTS folder (C:\program files\autodesk\autocad 20##\fonts) which read all fonts that the user use.so make sure that your fonts exist there.

This is only valid for SHX fonts, not for TTF (TrueType Fonts)!

How did you add them to Windows?

For most applications it's ok to copy the TTF-files into the Windows Fonts folder, but that's not how it should be done.

The correct way is to copy the TTF's to any temp folder, then right-click a file and use option "install"

From what I know only TTF's are officially supported for AutoCAD, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

There exist web-pages that can convert OTF to TTF, you just have to be careful about copyrights and if you trust the converter site.

Did you have any “luck” of getting Din Pro in AutoCAD? I am setting up a template of our company logo and part of it is that Din Pro font (.otf) in it.

Any update on this one? I have DIN Pro Medium, OTF and TTF installed but they dont show up in AutoCAD, Inventor is fine with the OTF

No update,

you need fonts with truetype contours, ttf or otf, but truetype contours are required.
