Well - basically our current template has 8 layouts (G1.0; A0.1; A1.0; A2.0; A3.0; A4.0; A5.0; A 6.0). There's not much difference between the Ax.x sheets, but the G1.0 has our disclaimers and sheet index and whatnot...

I'm not about to redo the templates, so I guess to answer your previous question - yes... there is a reason I'm not building sheets directly from the SSM. I think it would be easier to import all 8 sheets at once and renumber them than to add each sheet individually.

We're in the process of test driving our new template, which is the one I've been working off of for all this. I may have to collaborate with my boss (who put the template together in the first place) and see where she wants to take this (i.e. if we want to remake the templates and use the SSM as it was intended to be used, or if we want to use the SSM in conjunction with the current template set). Give me a bit to figure that out. I'll get back to you next week if I have any questions. Thanks for all your help so far!

I'm attempting to use the sheet set manager as a tool for dragging and dropping standard details into a drawing. As a standard, we typically don't use sheet sets for anything. I've created a new sheet set, defining the "label blocks for views" as the .dwg wblock that is our standard drawing label, but when I insert a model view, it doesn't come with a title block at all.

I then created an example sheet set where the "label blocks for views" definition is pre-defined using a default title block. Upon dragging and dropping a model view into the drawing, the same thing happened... Not sure at all why this is happening. Scale maybe? Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Is it possible to attach a small sample sheet set along with the blocks you are using for your callouts? I would like to examine how you have this setup and if I can offer some suggestions for getting this feature to work for you.

I don't understand what you mean by [the "label blocks for views" definition is pre-defined using a default title block]

Do you mean that the block you want to use for your label block is a block inside of the title block drawing file?

There are about a half dozen things that have to be configured correctly in order for this to work - but without more info from you, we are just guessing.

Please attach files, and/or screenshots or even better, a screencast so we can see the steps you are doing and find the problem.

Hi @bhuhn,

If I understand your question, I think you are expecting more than what this tool is designed to do.

I took your Sheet Set and made sure that Label block for views was set to "drawing title block" by rt-clicking the Sheet Set in Sheet Views.

Then in Model Views, I added some of my drawings and placed one of my plans to a new layout as a model view by rt-clicking and selecting "Place as View". The resulting model view was placed on the new layout and included the View label.

This is working as designed. Are you expecting it to add something else?

This is unusual. Try inserting the block manually into your drawing first and then delete it (don't purge it out). Perhaps it is having issues with the path to the block.

Alright - that worked. I'm trying to get it so I can use SSM as a staging platform to input standard details into existing drawings outside of the sheet set (mostly I don't want to introduce the SSM to everyone here and make it the standard since no one here currently uses it or really knows how... I'd have to run a class on it). I don't think it's going to work the way I was hoping, but at least I've reached a better understanding of it. Thanks for your help.

Alright - so for the sake of future productivity, I'm trying to make the jump to having our company use SSM for all drawings. So I'm currently working out a test sheet set for everyone to eventually use as a template. I can't seem to get any of the callouts to work. I've attempted to insert a callout exactly as directed in Sheets Happen!, only no callout appears on the screen. The issue is not the block itself, as I've tried this with a few different blocks. Basically, I have the sheet set mapped to a number of different callouts - none of which show up on the screen. There is no error message, just "_callout" in the temporary command line history. Let me know if you have any ideas on a diagnosis...

Try this please. I modified the drawing template (Architectural Imperial) that is stored in the user profile. [C:\Users\VellekJ\AppData\Local\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2018\R22.0\enu\Template\SheetSets]

I placed your View label block in it and renamed it to View Label.

Now, when I start a New SheetSet based on the template and then create a new sheet in the set, the titleblock is placed (you will need to replace with your own) along with the label.

Thank You. I am also having a randomly recurring issue where if I close out of a sheet set and later reopen it through SSM, all of my automated view labels loose the datalinks for the fields and just show the default field... most of them just a series of "#". I can put in the labels manually and the link is fine, but obviously I'm not too keen on having to replace all of my view labels every time I reopen a layout.

The default callout tag worked, but not our custom tag. Title block works fine other than the issue mentioned in my last post.

I have no updates to install from Autodesk. I have them in different locations. The DST is on a network drive, the layouts are stored locally.

Hi @bhuhn,

Try putting this template file in the location I suggested in my last post. Let me know if it works for you.

What kind of network are you using? Is there a reason not to keep all the files on the network in the same folder? It sounds like you have this data connection interrupted at times which is what causes this behavior. Can you try keeping all the files in one spot (locally or on network) and test for a bit?

No reason - just the way it played out as I began testing. I have the files all stored locally now. Will let you know if the problem persists.

The issue with the callout blocks though... not sure why this is happening. I re-made a callout block and it worked just fine, only the text justification was off-center. I went back into the block to change it and now it doesn't work... same issue where it just doesn't insert into the drawing.
