Sheet Sets are saved in a separate file (*.dst). Do you have a template project folder structure created? We keep a blank Sheet Set file in an SSM folder in the same folder as the sheet files.

..\DWG\Sheet\SSM\

Is there a way to keep the tabs in sheet set? I created a template CAD file and created a sheet set template.

but when I open my template drawing and create a new sheet set using the template I created, all the tabs are gone in the sheet set template.

What method did you use to import to sheet set. I am trying to simplified this task for another CAD user to use.

basically have everything set up as soon as they use the template drawing.

The SS can be pointed at the template you want to use for all new sheets, and our default SSM setup is pointed at our default drawing template. I have a second, and third, SSM setup saved on our network for when we need to use a different template to set up drawings.

Sorry, I missed typed. I was asking if you were using SSM to create the new sheets. I understand SSM. We have so many different sheets with different client borders, viewports and so on. We would have a ton of templates. Multiple SSMs should work.

Easy step by step instruction.

For the most part, we use our own titleblocks on our projects. However, we have a handful of clients who want their own titleblock used for work for them. In those cases what I've done is one of the two following things: (I try to keep it simple whenever possible.. too many different options can lead to errors, etc)

create a custom titleblock that mimics that client's titleblock, but utilizes the Sheet Set fields we use in our typical Sheet Set. This has worked for about half of our client titleblocks. It's dependent, however, on the client's titleblock having more or less the same information needed on the titleblock. If it's vastly different, then option 2 is the way I've gone.

Create a custom titleblock that mimics that client's titleblock, and create a custom SSM file specifically for use with that client and with that titleblock.

What this has resulted in over the years is 2 or 3 of our company-standard titleblocks and 2 company-standard SSM files....along with roughly maybe a dozen client-specific titleblocks and around 3 or 4 client-specific SSM's
