I have AutoCAD 2002, I know it's ancient but it still works on my other work computer. I recently got a different computer and anytime I try to open CAD I get this error... fatal error: unhandled e06d7363h exception at 76eec54fh.

I can't even do anything, I open it and this error occurs and it forces me to close.

Any help?

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I suspect that your AutoCAD 2002 is not compatible with the newer OS. What operating system is installed?

I believe that 2002 was designed to run on Windows 2000 or NT. ( I can't find the system requirements for such an old product)

My operating system is Windows 7. I ended up installing driver updates and Windows .net update. Now it will open and I'm able to open projects. I'm not having any troubles now but when I open AutoCAD it gives me a dialog box that says "There was a problem sending the command to the program." Not sure what that is but everything seems to be working properly.

Thanks!

Hi @Anonymous,

I am glad that things are nearly back to normal.

The error you are seeing might be permissions related. Try selecting the desktop Shortcut for AutoCAD and then rt-click it and go to Properties.. In the compatibility tab check the "Run this Program as Administrator" and then click ok.

Next, Double-click on a drawing file in Windows Explorer to Open and then save the file.

Go back to the AutoCAD shortcut and uncheck the "Run this Program as Administrator"

Let me know if this resolves the error for you.

My fix was to delete the "recent file list" in the registry.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R15.0\ACAD-1:409\Recent File List

This was because our network was down this morning (thunder/lightning/oh my), no network drives present, and the recent file list Acad was looking for, some of these files couldn't be found. So until our LAN was reset/rebooted/or what ever, I could go on drafting on my local drive.

AutoCAD 2002 on Windows 7 x64

Hope that helps someone.

Thanks - the solution was definitely to delete the recent files in the system registry. I had referenced some DXF files that were on a USB Drive (that was not plugged in). The issue appears to be caused by the inability to reconcile against a file located on a path or drive that did not exist.
