default lineweight is 25, can you really tell the difference between 25 and 30, or was that your example, and even the stuff that is 50 or 70 is still plotting as though it is 25?

I cannot get my AutoCAD to plot the correct line weight.

I am using monochrome.ctb which should use the object lineweight and the plot is set too.

I've attached a image showing the settings.

Is there anything else I need to do?

Thanks

You can tell the difference in lineweight on the screen so I was assuming you would be able to when printed.

Default doesnt really display a width. what happens when you print preview them? If i change the layer of your blue line to have a weight of 50, it shows different on the screen and print preview for me shows them differently

Hi,

No problem with the print.

Default line weight for every layer is .25 which will not be displayed in the print preview.

So there will be difference in the output if you print with (plot with line weights).

Panic over guys,

Although 0.3 is a substantial noticeable difference on screen and in the print preview, it does not show all that well when actually printed.

It only starts being noticeably different when printed at 0.35 but the downside is that it looks excessively wide on the screen. Going further 0.5 is better when printed but you can imagine how bad this looks on the screen!!

The posted file only shows a small portion of the drawing so doesn't look too bad but when you consider you have to zoom out to get the rest of the drawing and those lines do look wide

I suspect the problem lies with the printer too. Thinking about it, I cannot image the printer would be able to print out the difference between 0.25 and 0.3 but I guess something must be able to....

instead of leaving all the other layers at default, you could set them to 25, its the same value (unless you change default, which is possible) and that way it would look better on screen.

we dont draft with lineweights on here, so it isnt a big deal for us.

I found this thread...abandoned...when I was having the same issue, so I thought I'd leave a response here that fixed it for me. Hope this help anyone else that stumbles here via Google.

In my scenario, I had been drawing all lines set as "Default" in the "Match Properties" box on the Layout Tab. I have layers set up to use specific lineweights, colors, etc (as the OP likely did also) via Layer Properties. I simply had to select ALL geometry in the drawing and changed from "Default" to "ByLayer".

So, really, everything in the "Match Properties" box in the Layout Tab should be set to "ByLayer." I prefer to control ALL plot properties via Layer Properties.
