I set up the plotting configuration of my layout tabs using plot style DWG to PDF.pc3. Plot size Arch expanded D (36 x 24), What to plt: LAYOUT. Plot offsets: x & y both set to 0. Scale: 1"= 1". Check options include Save changes to layout. Drawing oriantation: Landscape.

Someone opens the drawing and chooses to plot a portion of the drawing and changes the plot configuration to window and the paper size to 8 1/2 x 11 but fails to uncheck "Save changes to layout" so, of course, this configuration gets saved. Now, when I want to plot at the original setup, I have to change the settings bak to the original options but the drawing has moved to a totally different position and I have to play with the plot offsets until I get it back to where it needs to be.

How do I fix this?

You will always have to fix someone else' changes: you could minimize the problem by always unchecking this box in the saved pagesetup (or PLOT command) so it never auto-changes

Or get into saved pagesetups and importing them all the time using PSETUPIN command.

or write a series of SCRIPTs or MACROs to put is all back, but again, nothing automatic about that either.

Hi,

>>", I have to change the settings bak to the original options but the drawing has moved to a totally different position and I have to play with the plot offsets until I get it back to where it needs to be."

You should reconsider your current site setup (which we don't know completely).
Your plan frames may also need to be optimized, but we can't know that.

The following would be perfect:

There is no other object outside the drawing frame.
so you can use Plot area Extents
and Centered

complete.

This way you don't have a problem and you don't have to guess.
Speaking of advice: please share an original .dwg from which such an excerpt was previously printed.

You should reconsider your current site setup (which we don't know completely). Your plan frames may also need to be optimized, but we can't know that. The following would be perfect: There is no other object outside the drawing frame. Plot area boundaries Centered complete. So you don't have a problem and you don't have to guess. Speaking of advice: please share an original .dwg from which such an excerpt was previously printed.

_

This is exactly why you should use this option 'Save changes to layout". This options doesn't make sense - technically not / same like wsautosave.

Turn it off and if you want to change the pagesetup, use the [ apply] Button.
