EXPLODE ATTRIBUTES FROM A BLOCK

There is an entity in a dwg. I am working with that will not explode nor allow me to change the line color.

I have exploded it many times to no avail.

When I select the item, it selects as if it is a block, if I dbl. click it, a pop-up window comes up that says "Enhanced Attribute Editor" and I go into the Properties tab, change the line color but it does nothing to the item.

So I tried to explode and I cannot GET IT OUT OF WHATEVER IT IS IN.

I CHECKED AND IT IS NOT A BLOCK.... I WANT IT TO BE AN EXPLODED ITEM, CAN ANYONE HELP?

So, it's a block that's not a block? I'm not sure that can be the case.

When is a block not a block?

Maybe, when you are in the block editor.

If it's in a block library, it's probably a .dwg. It's not a block until it is inserted into another .dwg.

So, maybe you could share this block that's not a block to eliminate any confusion.

Blocks can be created to allow or not allow exploding. You can check by selecting it and right clicking and selecting block editor. When in block editor without selecting anything look at the properties palette, near the bottom there should be an option that says allow exploding.

Once you apply @user181 process to make the block able to be exploded, use the BURST command instead of EXPLODE. Otherwise the attributes will become Attribute Definitions and lose the value that was in the attributes before you exploded them. BURST will maintain the values and convert to Text for you.
