Hi,

>> In the options tab it says it's a polymesh

Well, polymesh is not a type of geometry which is build for editing, it's more for having a simple representation of irregular surfaces.

You might try command _SURFSCULPT (>>>details<<<) to create parts of your model to separate 3D-Solids, but I'm not sure if AutoCAD is for that type of geometry editing the best software, no, not correct ... I'm sure that AutoCAD is not the best software to do that job.

What should be done with the geometry after it is splitted to separate parts? What is the goal with that ...?

Hi!

Absolute newbie here, so in a moment of desperation I'm asking for help. I have a model made in Agisoft Photoscan, which I think I have successfully imported to AutoCAD, or at least there is a model there which I can orbit around etc. How can I keep processing this model in AutoCAD? Does the software recognize this as a model, or do I need to trace it somehow? I wish to draw in the missing pieces in the model, but right now I can't do anything...

Hi,

>> Does the software recognize this as a model,

When you select an item of the object and you open the property window (<CTRL><1>) then you can see more info's about what you selected.

We can't tell you what you have as we don't have access to your data (as long as you don't upload it here).

>> but right now I can't do anything...

Sound strange, let's start it simple: what happens when you type in

_LINE<ENTER>

...what does the command line now ask? If it's asking for the first point it looks like AutoCAD is working well (and not in a state as you wrote "you can't do anything")

Thank you for responding!

Quite poor explanation on my part, I blame exam panic.

I have imported a 3D model from Photoscan, and I am permitted to orbit it, or select parts of the polycloud mesh when clicking in it, but not all of it. I am permitted to draw outside of the model, but not in it. It is as if I could upload, but not interact with the model. There's probably a very simple solution, I just cannot find it. I wish to turn my photoscan model into an autocad one, so that I can proceed in editing it. I have only ever made models from scratch in AutoCAD, and only generic shapes. Creating the photoscan model as a template was meant to make further modelling simpler.

What does the property window give you as information about the type of object? From that it depends which AutoCAD commands can modify the geometry you have.

(or upload the drawing so we can look into it)

Hi again,

In the options tab it says it's a polymesh. I cannot figure out how to combine or proceed, although I'm sure there's a very simple solution. I've included a picture of what the model looks like on my end. I've chosen the "conceptual" view as it showed the shape best, and you can also see the lines separating the polymeshes. From here, I would like to convert them into three different pieces, of the top face being one, one for teeth, and one for jaw so that I can control their final solid form for each respective unit.

Hi thank you so much for taking the time to answer me.

I have decided to abandon my project, and I instead started something else, and whatdoyouknow, it works perfectly. So clearly this was just a case of me wanting to have the software do something it was not intended to. Again, thank you for input.
