From option in Move command does not work with small numbers

Hi,

I am using ACAD 2017. When using the "from" option in move or copy commands with small numbers/fractions (0.1 or 0.01 units) the object does not move at all or does snap to the "target point" for the direction.

Any suggestions? Thx in advance

Can you please press <F2> (to see more lines of command-line history) after you completed your copy or move sequence and show us a screenshot, so we see when you used _FROM ...?

Hi,

you don't need _FROM in that case, as you only define a distance and a direction to move an object ... in that case you can use any base point, then show a direction with the cursor and enter the distance, in your case 0.01.

Have you moved your cursor far away from the object? If not it might again find an object snap to your polyline (and so start point and destination point for the move vector stays the same).

Unfortunately this error appears quite randomly.

I just did the same operation again and instead of displacing the object 0.01 units ACAD decided to displace 0.001 units:

I mesured the displacement afterwards...

It looks to me like autocad decides to round off numbers at random in this operation. Sometimes it jumps to 0.02 instead of 0.015 and similar. Since this is a very frequent tool in my drafting it is unfortunate to not be able to trust ACAD on moving the object to an exact number.

I would say "close to impossible" as long as you are working 2D (no 3D objects in the drawing and no Z-values exist <> 0.0) and as long as you are not working in layout ...

Can you show a screencast (>>>click<<<) + upload the drawing you are working with?

That might happen with SNAP on.
