Hi @dim678,

There are many ways to tag a length of an object. Dimensions are probably the fastest way to do this but obviously take some space on your screen. I like to use Fields to capture such properties.

I made the short Screencast for you that demonstrates how you could apply either method to a piece of geometry.

As far as scaling goes, yes you can scale an object up or down. Start the SCALE command, select the object(s), pick a base point and then apply a scale factor of .1

Hello, i have a shape in which i know its dimensions,as shown in the photo bellow, but there is a shape next to it,shown in the photo bellow marked in red , where i dont know its dimensions.

Is there a way to know the marked in red shape by some sort of visual proportion measure in autocad?

Thanks.

"visual proportion measure" Not at all sure what you mean by that.

If you want to know the dimensions of an object ...

DIST will provide the total distance and X,Y & Z deltas for any two points

or

dimension it. AutoCAD has a wealth of dimensioning tools.

But maybe if you explained your needs a little more ...

Hello, i have only a photo, i know the dimension of the blue part of the model'

so is there a tool in autocad where using visual analysis we can get the proportions between the lines

and thus getting the dimensions of the marked red part.

Attach the image to an AutoCAD drawing, then scale it relative to the known dimensions.

SCALE (select the image)

BASE POINT (pick a point)

R (for Reference)

(pick two endpoints of a known distance [longer the better])

key in known distance.

Then use DISTANCE to find unknown distances.

Depending on the quality of the image/PDF the obtained in this manner may not be as precise as required, but without the original source file that's about as good as it gets.

Hi @dim678,

I created a new drawing file using the metric template.

I attached your image at 1:1 scale.

Then I created some construction lines to simplify the visualization of scale by reference.

The first line matched the length of one of the image lines (unknown length but labeled 8mm)

Then I drew another line at a known distance of 8mm

The next step is to start the SCALE command.

I select the image file and then base point (left endpoint of my first construction line)

Next, I select the reference option and select the endpoints of the first construction line and then for the desired scale I select the far endpoint of the 2nd construction line.

Now I can measure points in the image for the distances or even trace over the image.

Hello, thank you very much for the explanation , is there a way to stick a label with this measurements next to the line on the model,

so i will see the pixel measure of each line?

another ting is the scaling, if for example we measure a line for 40 pixels and each pixel is 0.1mm is there a way to scale the measured data by 0.1?

Thanks

your answers are very helpfull
