Yes I have full rights to install on these machines. And there is no option for us to change IT providers. If there was we would have already. We are now owned by a larger company and we have no ability to influence their choices.

This issue is only happening with my new laptop. Its a macbookpro with apple silicon running Windows11 under Parallels 19. Autocad version is 2022 and is a brand new installation as of last week.

When Autocad crashes I don't get any error messages. I'm also not aware how to find a log file to see what was going on when the crash happens.

I am able to open the sheetset preferences dialog. It allows me to type new values into the fields. But when I try to save the changes it crashes. It does this for the main sheetset properties, and individual

sheet property page, or a Sheetgroup.

The issue occurs with every sheetset I try. Everything works fine on my old computer so im pretty sure this is not due to corrupt files.

All files are local but they are being synced to Onedrive.

I have created a ticket with Autodesk last Thursday, but I have not heard a peep from Autodesk, or through their Directly system. I was hoping someone here could help me find a crash log or, anything really.

Thanks

Keir

Ok, I may try that later today. Are there any issues with trying this and then going back to 2022 later? My office uses 2022 and I wanted to keep pace with them. Are there any issues I would run into as far as compatibility if I edit a file in 2024 and then someone else tries to edit in 2022?

Thanks

Update. AutoCAd tech help asked me to set the Windows11 graphics to use High performance, but that did not work. I have also installed the updates recommended by the Autodesk Desktop manager software. It looked like it was updates related to single sign on and probably not relevant to my issue, but I did them anyway.

If everyone in your office is using Autocad2022 but no one else is having this same exact issue, perhaps your IT person(s) need to get involved to reset your AutoCAD or reset your entire PC setup to match everyone else' issues instead of leaping to a newer version where you might just end up bringing the problem along with a migration.

Not surprised. That was not the best approach.

You can RESET your AutoCAD yourself if you wish without your IT.

You can probably reinstall it if they allow it.

I'd recommend your IT be involved, or talk to an owner to find you all a better IT resource.

@kbriscoeV365Z wrote:

This issue is only happening with my new laptop....

Do you still have your old PC/Laptop?

@kbriscoeV365Z wrote:

That information probably should have been your post title. It may not be too late to try and change it, it's not a common setup so you want to attract that user above all else around here.

How to RESET 2022. Then test, test and test ebfore you do much of anything else in 2022.

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-reset-AutoCAD-to-defaults.html#:~:text=From%20the%20AutoCAD%20menu%2C%20click,Click%20Reset%20AutoCAD.

Then well after that: EXPORT SETTINGS from the old computer, and IMPORT SETTINGS on the new computer, see if that resolves it.

Engage with your corporate IT regardless of the circumstances with your "different" setup on a MAC running Windows, they must have had influence on the decision.

So what platform is the old one installed on?

Is it similar to the new again using a Mac with Parallels?

Note the differences that would be the key.

The old one is an Intel Macbook pro and runs Windows10 in Bootcamp. So no virtualization needed. With Apple M series chips Windows can not be run on hardware, it needs virtualization. I really wish I didn't need Parallels. Unfortunately at this moment they are the most reliable virtualization solution for ARM chips and Windows11

The intel chip macs run really hot, and chew through batteries. I also travel full time and work remotely most of the time. I prefer not to have to carry two laptops. I've been using Mac's for personal use for a very long time. I understand I am an edge case on how AutoCAD normally gets used. But I am willing to take the time to troubleshoot this in order minimize how much gear I travel with.

So comparing apples with oranges here.

BootCamp is like running AutoCAD on Windows PC.

Whereas Parallels is as you say running Windows virtualize within a Mac OS.

Looks like you've discovered a bug with a virtualized environment.

But it can still be Windows 11 OS which is also different than Windows 10 OS.

If you have the time and the energy I would setup Parallells on Windows 10 OS as another comparison.

As Parallels does have a 15 day free trial period I can set up a new account with them and download another copy to try with Windows 10. I think Ill go down that road over the next while. AutoCAD trusted advisor person has escalated this issue to go to an Autocad tech so im going to keep pursuing that angle as well. I also have a help ticket in with Parallels to see if there are known issues.

Ill keep this thread updated as I go.
