Would like to be able to open multiple page layouts within the same file much like you can in REVIT. To my knowledge the tile vertically tool only opens different DWG files not different page layouts in the same DWG file. Am working on a floor plan that my changes actively effect a 3D isometric riser and I have to check the riser after each change to ensure both plans are population correctly. It would be very helpful if I could see these changes in a different window as I make them instead of going back and form from page layout to page layout.

When you are in model space you can have multiple views at the same time. On the ribbons VIEW tab click the drop down on the VIEWPORT CONFIGURATION button and choose a configuration. Then you can set each view to be any view direction you want.

Thats close to what I need, but it can't be in model space due to the way the architects set up the base layouts and everything is organized. I need to be able to do that in the paper sapce with different sheets

If it doesn't they need to consider adding at least that one. Its a pretty basic tool that would save lots of time switching between paper spaces. Thank you though, thats what I was wondering.

Actually, AutoCAD does not have an IDEA page for posting product specific feature requests.

You are welcome to contact the product team directly. If you have additional comments specific to the software or its functionality for future consideration, please use the Product Feedback page. How to provide feedback on Autodesk products goes into more detail.

Another great option is to participate in the AutoCAD Customer Council.

This particular project has 3d risers that are generated based on the floor plan. However it doesn't work very well and you have to check the riser after any changes made to the floor plan to ensure that the riser is usable when finished. I would prefer to just create risers by hand but this client doesn't like that. Therefore we have to switch back and forth from floor plan page to riser page after almost every adjustment.

Stop making model adjustments in paperspace, do it in model space on the model tab. once all adjustments are complete, make the necessary adjustments in PS.

We separate the model from the drafting file entirely, no need to drag along the overhead of drafting with a 3D model, keeping the model as lean as possible for use in Navisworks or as a reference file. We then XREF the model into a drafting file for annotation and layout drafting

I can't do that. The 3D riser isn't even in the model space. Unless its somehow hidden. I'm not sure where it is generated but I've looked for it in the model space and it doesn't exist there i am sure of that. I would use model space if i could. This client has an extremely prototypical way of doing things and they've been doing it that way since they've been able to with autocad.

>>>...I'm not sure what "a vertical" is...<<<

AutoCAD MEP is designed to be used by folks like you to do what you do, instead of trying to get AutoCAD to compete with REVIT (a pencil/paper to cad comparison when it comes to specialty needs like MEP design).

Sounds like you might just be using the wrong variant of AutoCAD for your Plumbing design needs.

Here is more info https://www.autodesk.com/products/autocad-mep/overview

.......This is one very simple feature that would not be "competing with Revit" even in the slightest. It is simply being able to view multiple pages within a dwg at the same time. AutoCAD is the correct program for our uses I can assure you of that. This isn't even something that we need, just something that would be extremely convenient if it existed. I only compare the function I'm wanting to Revit because I know that Revit has that capability and is made by the same company so it is something the AutoCAD creators can look at to see what I mean exactly.

I don't believe you can view multiple layout tabs at once but you should be able to find a way to view everything you want at the same time. Your original post says "3D isometric riser" and you say its not in model space. It doesn't sound like this riser is 3D, it sounds like it is just a 2D isometric detail drawn in paper space? If that is the case why not draw it in model space or use chspace to put it in model so you can use the multiple viewport configurations to view everything you need. Then use a viewport to show it in paper space.

Edit: If the riser is in paper space just create a viewport next to it and zoom to area you want to see. Then delete it when you are done.
