First off let me state that I have been using Autocad for well over a decade, so please read thoroughly before respond with a simple answer.

We have 2 print sizes in our office, a standard D size and a half sized 11x17 standard. By default its D, and I created a 'half sized' page setup that imports a different setup for a different printer and checks the 'scale lineweight' box as well.

All was working perfectly up until ACAD 2016, when all of a sudden the 'half sized' setup instead of scaling lineweights just reduced them all to zero, when I unclick the 'scale lineweight' box all my lineweights for 11x17 sheet, as one would expect, all the line thinknesses are double.

Now if i keep the 'scale lineweight' box checked and make a PDF instead, the line thicknesses are as they should be, go figure.

I am at a loss for whats causing this to happen, all things being equal the only difference is the ACAD platform itself. We picked up 2018 and still the same issue. Now I have a workaround that I have been using since 2016, obviously, but I would rather an answer and so would my boss, as sometimes I forget and print a drawing with no lineweights and have to explain this 'bug' again.

It happens regardless of the drawing. I dont understand the second question, describe the lineweights used? I can send the .ctb file but I cant imagine that would do any good.

The .ctb file is the only common denominator, but the problem doesnt lie with the CTB file, it has to do with print driver. I will reply again when I get to the office.

Hi Andre,

I cannot reproduce the bug you described. Maybe related on printers used or other settings.

Could you please take a screen shot of your plot dialog (with the settings)? So I can try to reproduce this bug.

If you can send me the ctb file and the drawing/ screenshot , that will help more.

create a single page setup with your Standard D size confirm all the settings as required.

create a pdf full size.

send to any printer and choose 11x17 paper size for 1/2 size prints

check your ctb file and your pmp file that is associated with your Page setup.

it could be each separate drawing may not have the same page setup.

if you create a template for this you can import it into any new drawings, if not already in place.

not all printers are created equal so the drivers will vary in the results.

the PDF is more consistent.

and you only have to manage one page setup, ctb, pmp etc.

the simple answer is use the workflow that works for you.

create a pdf full size (this works ) your words.

print to ANY printer at whatever size paper you need

too simple?

Obviously you do need to reread it, because again you are stating a simple answer/workaround, that does not help. What was the first thing I said?

There is nothing more infuriating than stating clearly that you have a workaround but are looking for another solution and have someone chiming in with a workaround.

1. Congratulations for your success in using AutoCAD for more than a decade.

2. you do not need (2) SIZES, create your D size page setup and use a PDF device to make all your prints then print them to any printer

3. a compatibility issue with the new versions of AutoCAD and your Printers drivers is occurring, confirm the latest drivers are installed.

Now if i keep the 'scale lineweight' box checked and make a PDF instead, the line thicknesses are as they should be, go figure.

4. A workflow that works, print all your drawings to PDF first, more consistent output.

5. Things arent equal see Note 3.

the solution is simple CHANGE your WORFLOW.

now to your last comment, people are here to help, they may provide you with a solution you are not aware of.

however you take their advice is completely up to you.

but name calling is completely unacceptable and extremely unprofessional.

good luck and maybe there are other forums you should check out to help you with your issues.

Hi Andre,

I printed out two copies. One is D size and the other is half D size. Both of them checked scale line weight. The results are correct.

Here are the steps how I created them. Could you please point out the differences from your steps? So that I can reproduce the issue.

1. I create a pagesetup with Size D 22X34 inches in layout , and create several lines with different line weight.

2. print out the layout with following settings.

3. copy the layout, and apply a new page setup with half size D 11X17 inches. The scale is 1:2 and scale lineweight is checked.

4. print out with following settings

5. Compare the printed results.

The half size D paper printed half width lineweight.

I believe I am having the same issue with AutoCAD Map 3D 2017. I have noticed when I change paper size the plot scale automatically adjust to inches from the metric mm. Even after I adjust the plot back to mm, the plotted drawings appear to be scaled to a much smaller amount causing the lines to be so faint they do not plot. My assumption is that they are being plotted at 1=50.8 inches instead of 1=2 mm, an issue I never had while using previous versions of AutoCAD.

I suspect cybuls_c is on the right track.

We work mainly in metric, and occasionally use imperial sheet sizes. We plot using lineweights, not colour, and OOTB monochrome.ctb.

If we plot a metric drawing reduced down to an imperial 11x17 sheet with the lineweights scaled, ALL the lines appear exremely fine. (Image #1)

If we plot a metric drawing reduced to a metric A3 sheet with the lineweights scaled, the lines appear properly scaled. (Image #3)

I also used the PDF workaround suggested by others in this topic, which produced acceptable results. (Image#2)
