Question about manipulating VIEWBASE views

Hello all,

I have just been enlightened as to the existence of the lovely group of VIEWBASE commands for outputting 2D drawings of 3D models, along with generating sections and detail drawings. I have spent some time this week learning as much as I can about the command set, as it will greatly reduce my drafting time going from my former technique of FLATSHOT, EXPLODE, OVERKILL, and assign line type, color, and weight to desired layers. I have a pretty good handle on how the commands work, however I do have a specific question about the commands and outputted views:

Is there a way to convert a Base View or its associated Projected, Section, and Detail views into a 2D object? There are some very specific reasons why I would want to do this, i.e. generating 2D geometry for CNC paths from a piece of my model. The only other option I can find is to utilize my previous FLATSHOT method for this purpose.

Any help is greatly appreciated, as are additional tips related to this amazing set of commands. Thanks.

Hi,

does command _EXPORTLAYOUT do what you are looking for?

It will create blocks from each viewbase-object, using _EXPLODE or blockeditor gives you the option to modify them.

Yes, indeed it does, thank you!

I just wish it didn't need to create an external file, but no real problem there.
