Set up coordinate to dwg

I'm running auto cad 2016. My GIS coordinate system does not show when i use geolocation. How do i set up my coordinate for dwg. I need step by step on how to.

You may need to use To change the Coordinate system in AutoCAD you have 2 options:

Go to the Program menu button (Top left Autocad icon) and select it.
1. Then slide your mouse down to Drawing Utilities menu.
2. Select the option for Drawing Settings.
3. Enter the settings you will use. For example, Drawing units, Internation or US foot, etc.
4. In the Zone section of the dialogue box change the Category setting to Lat Longs (option #2).
5. Then select the WGS84 coordinate system
Type EDITDRAWINGSETTINGS into command line and repeat steps 3-5 from above.

Which is "your GIS coordinate system"? Which name or parameters does it have?

command doesn't work and drop down doesn't show. I am running auto cad 2016 regular version not civil 3d

Hi,

maybe it's missing knowledge about US coordinate systems, but "nad83tx" is nothing I can find in AutoCAD Map 3D (which has built in Coordinate Systems) or QGIS (a great GIS freeware) ... also Google does not show me any results for that (NAD83 yes .. but not NAD83TX)

You are using AutoCAD, the links shown for CS-libraries are for AutoCAD Map 3D (and also valid for AutoCAD Civil 3D) ... but it is a different product!

Try typing the command _ADEDEFCRDSYS. This should pull up a box that will allow you to set the coordinates for the drawing. On option #3 select the second bullet to Create a new coordinate system from an existing coordinate system and find the one you use.

I agree with @Alfred.NESWADBA, i cannot find that coordinate system. But you may be able to find one that will work for you in that list.

Zoom to your position you like to set the reference-marker, then move your mouse to the point ==> right-click and use "set marker here"

When that is done you can continue with next page

in order to run the commands i mentioned to you, you will need to load a partial customization file. Open the CUI and then scroll down to the last option. then Right click on that and load partial customization file. Then scroll down to where it says map and open that file. These commands should work. It should also put a section in your menu bar called Map. Make sure your menu bar is showing by making sure MENUBAR is set to 1.

See if that works for you.

J.FOCHT, the ADEDEFCRDSYS command is only available in AutoCAD Map3D or Civil3D, this user has plain AutoCAD !!!

PRZ_JORGE01, the coordinate assignment tools in plain AutoCAD are confusing at best. Visit the GeoLocationPlus web page, scroll to the bottom and request the free lite version. You will then be able to use these dialogs ...

... to select your system and you won't even have to log into 360 while you're doing it. Plus you will enhance your GeoLocation capabilities with other great tools at no charge.

yes that is correct i do have plain auto cad 2016. But i should still be able to set my coordinates in my dwg, i would think?

Can you please describe what you really need?

I always see "need to set coordinates first" ... assuming you mean "coordinate system" AutoCAD can't show you coordinate systems as long as it does not know where on the world you are and so which coordinate systems are available in that area. So you need first to set the marker so AutoCAD knows the coordinate systems that are available for that area.

Then - on the next screen - you can choose any of the coordinate systems that AutoCAD finds for this selected point.
