HI

I can't seem to find anything else other than to buy software that can do this... I guess the question I am left with is, what information is on the ECW file? Maybe take a snapshot and post it here?

Regards

Hi,

>> an ecw file however if i put it into autocad the program (autocad) runs slowly

>> as the ecw file has a size of 14 Go

What are your system spec's?

You might try this plugin >>click<<< that has options to faster access ECW and JPG2000 files on AutoCAD's display.

>> Is it possible to convert the ecw file into a dwg file

I would not know of any (also none free) raster to vector converters which can handle 14GB files.

And yes, it would be good to know the content of the raster file.

If it's a aerial image then you'll not have good chances to find vectors in it, it it's more like a street-map then you might find the source of the data as GIS-data (which is then vector data and may be imported directly as vectors).

Sorry then, a satellite image does not make sense to be converted to a vector graphic.

What should a raster-to-vector converter find in such an image to be converted to a line or polygon?

Hi,

>> convert this project to ecw format

You can use plot functionality to create a raster-file and then convert the raster-file to ecw format.

A bit tricky is to get this georeferenced.

Another option could be to save your dwg-file as dxf, load this file into QGIS and create a geotiff or ecw from that content.
