I installed Autocad 2018 three months ago on a Windows 10 Home, 64 bits, Intel Core i7-7700 new desktop PC.

Last week AutoCAD suddenly began crashing opening every file I had tried, no matter its content, data or origin. I tried to repair it, unsuccessful. Then I reseted settings to default, but I kept getting the same Error Aborting Message.

"FATAL ERROR: unhandled e0434352h Exception at f1f69e08h"

The only solution that worked was a clean uninstallation, restart the PC and install AutoCAD2018 again.
It worked fine until today, when I tried to open a file. I would rather not to uninstall it every time I get an issue.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

P.S.: I wrote down some codes from error reports.:

error report CER_152116494
error report CER_152116524

I would suggest checking your graphics card. Compare what you have to the list of certified computer equipment from the Autodesk website:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert?siteID=123112&id=18844534

You could also check some this article for other ideas. I would make sure that you check your firewall. That could have prevented a full, clean installation.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Fatal-Error-When-Launching-AutoCAD.html

Thank you.
I search my graphics card in the Autodesk recommended hardware, but as it
shows them not by component, and I am did not find mine (GeForce GT720) in
the list.
But it worked fine for some two months, why it would start crashing now
with no changes in my graphic card?

The last thing I did before reading your answer was following the second
link (When launching AutoCAD a FATAL ERROR occurs) which I found searching
the web. I unistalles .NET Framework and the multiple Visual C++ Libraries,
the Autocad, restarted the PC, and installed AutoCAD again.
It seems to work fine, I have been working for some hours with no error at
all.
Should I reinstall .NET Framework and C++ Libraries?

Best regards,

Your graphics card should do well with the software. I wouldnt worry about that. And yes, you should reinstall the .net framework and visual c++. Here is a list of .net framework and the appropriate operating systems for each:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-remove-and-reinstall-the-Microsoft-NET-Framework.html

Here is list for visual c++:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-remove-and-reinstall-Microsoft-Visual-C-Runtime-Libraries.html

If it gives you fits again after installing those items then post again and we will look into it more.

Hello Jonathan:

It is happening again. Although I followed your instructions when I came back from my summer vacations I found AutoCAD 2018 is unable to open any file. It crashes the same way of last time. I am very tired: when AtuoCAD does not crash I have troubles with noun/verb selection. It never works flawlessly. May it be it is a beta and we should not use the 2018 version?

Hello again josep.amor!

I have done some more research into what may cause this and it comes back to the .net framework in many posts. That seems like a good place to start again. Also check to see if there are any software updates available.

@john.vellek responded to a similar post with the same issue. He has a link that takes you to the uninstalling and reinstalling of the .net framework. Here is the link: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-remove-and-reinstall-the-Microsoft-NET-Framework.html

Look at this post and see if any of these suggestions help too! https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Fatal-Error-Unhandled-Access-Violation-Reading-0x0000-Exception-at-bcbdad73h.html

Hello Jonathan:

My complaint is because despite having done each of the recommended steps, the only one that has worked is to uninstall AutoCAD and reinstall it. The error - or set of errors - forces me to do it with a frequency of 15 days or a month.
This process consumes a lot of time and although every time I get faster by customizing Autocad (CUI, plotters, plot styles, custom hatches, file shortcuts, etc.) it seems a waste of time and a prehistoric procedure to solve the problems of such expensive software.

To be clear, these are the steps I followed, testing Acad every time:

-Updated the product;

-Opened differente drawings:

-Uninstalled antivirus program;

-Reseted AutoCAD to defaults;

-Turned off Hardware acceleration;

-Updated Graphics driver;

-Logged in under a new Administrator windows account;

-Uninstalled and reinstalled the .NET Framework;

-Uninstalled and reinstalled Visual C++.

None of them worked. Just the clean uninstall of AutoCAD, and its reinstall.

Thanks for your help.

Hello. Thank you for providing those CER#s. From what I can tell, both crashes point to a problem in an addon app called "PlayCAD".

I would suggest you check with the developer of that app to see if they are aware of any issues in their app when used on the newer versions of .NET that you have. Or, perhaps they have a newer version available.

Here is some .NET detail from those CERs that may be of use in your communication with the PlayCAD developer:

at PlayCADSupport.ColorCodeValidation.AllCodesFromRepStudioMatchPlayCAD()

at PlayCAD.Managers.CommandManager.DocumentManager_DocumentCreated(Object sender, DocumentCollectionEventArgs e)

at Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.DocumentCollectionEventHandler.Invoke(Object sender, DocumentCollectionEventArgs e)

at Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.DocumentCollection.FireDocumentCreated(DocumentCollectionEventArgs e)

-----Last Unhandled Exception: -----Last 3 'first chance' exceptions (may not be related to the crash if they were handled): -----Last-0 'first chance' exception: System.Exception: There was an issue comparing the RepStudio color codes to the available PlayCAD color Codes. System.ArgumentException: The string was not recognized as a valid Uri. Parameter name: inputUri

at System.Xml.XmlReaderSettings.CreateReader(String inputUri, XmlParserContext inputContext)

at System.Xml.Linq.XElement.Load(String uri, LoadOptions options)

at PlayCADSupport.QueryTool..ctor(String fileName) at PlayCADSupport.PlayGroundData..ctor()

at PlayCADSupport.ColorCodeValidation.AllCodesFromRepStudioMatchPlayCAD()

at PlayCADSupport.ColorCodeValidation.AllCodesFromRepStudioMatchPlayCAD()

-----Last-1 'first chance' exception: System.ArgumentException: The string was not recognized as a valid Uri. Parameter name: inputUri

at System.Xml.XmlReaderSettings.CreateReader(String inputUri, XmlParserContext inputContext)

You can certainly try the above suggestions and see if that helps you out. It seems like a similar error code resulting from the same issues.

"after lunch" ... means you have had your computer running and it went in sleep mode?

Or you do have optimizer software installed which got active during that time?

Hi,

>> computer went into sleep mode

Sometimes that is not that good, because usb-devices as well as some build in devices don't wake up in the same mode. I never use sleepmode for that reason.

Maybe you can disable the sleepmode on your system too and see if the exception appears again or not.
