Can't insert block Autocad 2018.1

I have a problem: with Autocad 2018.1, if I try to insert (on a new drawing) a block created with another program (BricsCAD) Autocad (Italian 64 bit version) returns the following errors:

and does not insert the block.

These blocks, however, are inserted without problems in previous versions (Autocad 2015 and 2016)

What can I do?

Hi,

if you try to use the new cad drawing that maked from -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD command. export your opened cad model.

I have tryed command -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD from Autocad 2015 and I insert new block created into Autocad 2016 but same error

So this problem does not exist if the blocks are from AutocAD?

Post a sample block with this problem, let's all try it for ourselves.

Exactly, the problem does not exist if the block is created with Autocad.

Hi @Anonymous,

I opened the Example.dwg you attached. It indicated that there were drawing errors in the file. So, I closed it and then ran RECOVER on it. Now the file is clean but two objects were erased in the process.

I don't know if BrisCAD has a trial version but you might check and then see if the blocks open properly there.

If I open the file in AutoCAD 2017, I am able to see everything. The difference is that the Solid Modeler in newer product is more rigorous in checking for errors.

Sounds like a BricsCAD mess: AutoCAD will not address it if John's RECOVER tip doesn't help.

Your yellow wedge looks fine here in R2017.2: is there more to the file? R2018 does not like it at all, it reports these problems here

Hi Pendean, the block is composed only of the yellow triangle (see attached file when block is open in sketchup 2017, no error when importing).

My problem is that I have at least 700 blocks created with different programs from Autocad, how can i fix it?

Also, if I open a file containing those blocks with autocad 2018, he removes them!

Right now my only advise to you is to step back to AutoCAD 2017.

Hi @Anonymous,

Since the file you provided has errors wehn going into AutoCAD 2018, I experimented with saving it out (or Exported) to different formats. Many of these went into Inventor without any problems. Perhaps this could be an intermediate method to get them into 2018.

I went the brute-force method by opening the file in AutoCAD 2017. I used the Extract Edges tool on the solid.

I could then copy and paste the edges into 2018 without any errors.

I then joined the edges of one side and used Seep to create a new solid that was clean and watertight. I know this sounds like a lot of work but if the models have errors that are not being detected in 2017 or earlier, they are likely to creep into major errors later.

Hi @Anonymous,

Something I ran across today that might help is if you have Windows 7 and still have access to AutoCAD 2014, if you open the file(s) and save them then that might correct the solid modeling issues when bringing them into 2018.

Try setting ASMRESTORE to 2. No idea what it does but it worked for me.
