Hi,

I want my drawing part list to show the part item number.

I make a block 1234. I insert into the drawing 12 times.

My part list needs to show item 1 quantity 12.

I need an item bubble to show the same item number 1.

I switched over to autocad mechanical and see most of what I need there.

The issue I have with Amech is that the bom doesn't pick up the PN attribute I assigned to my block.

I understand how to create blocks with attributes and insert them into my drawing.

I understand how to create a part list.

How does one get Autocad 2010 to assign item numbers to all same blocks?

Then how to insert a corresponding item bubble for each block? Autocad 2010 not Autocad Mechanical.

I am not sure that I really understand what you are trying to do. Is it possible to send me a sample drawing that contains the blocks along with your part list?

Are you trying to connect a specific block with a field in a table?

Hi @Anonymous,

A data extraction can likely do most of what you are describing.

I created a block named 1234 and it has an attribute in it that lets me enter a part number. I inserted it 11 times and then ran a dataextraction.

It gave me the count, name, and partno.

I would have to see a sample drawing of yours to see what the bubble part is supposed to be doing and where it is supposed to be placed.

I am including @cheryl.buck, an AutoCAD Mechanical Support Specialist on this post as perhaps she can help you with that side of the question.

I appreciate your help on this.

Now you can use the block you defined to make 2 new blocks; 1002-x1 and 1003-x3, insert them on the drawing.

Now we need another column on the part list for item number. This item number must be assigned automatically since we never know what order nor how many blocks we will insert.

Lastly I need to pick the block on the drawing and have it's item number come from the part list.

The following screen shot is of what i have done with AMech.

I used to do this back in the day (AutoCad R2). Have been using Inventor for the last decade (and all of it's versions). It's been so long I've forgotten how I did it.

Hi @Anonymous,

Take a look please at the attached dwg file. I created three unique blocks and added attributes for ID, Part No. Description and Note capture. The attributes are all placed on a tags layer so that you can turn off the display of the attributes be freezing that layer.

I then ran a data extraction to create the Parts List as shown here:

The bubble or tag feature I have not shown but could easily be a multileader with a tag on it that contains a field which you could manually point to the ID attribute or just have it be an attribute where you would fill in the information.
