topic AutoCAD 2021 File Save choices in AutoCAD Forum

We currently have AutoCAD 2018 installed. I just installed 2021 without removing the old 2018 version. When I go to the Open and Save tab under Tools the File Save choices do not include 2021. I selected the AutoCAD 2018 drawings but I don't know if that is the appropriate choice? Can someone advise me on this.

Thanks

Yep, you got it correct. There's been no dwg file format changes since 2018. So 2019 through the current 2024 it's still using the same 2018 dwg file format. So however you save your dwg in 2021, your 2018 can still open it.

It's about file format, not software version. The file format doesn't change with every version. The 2018 file format is still in effect, so there's no newer one for them to offer. [Note that the next possibility is 2013, not stepping back year by year.]
