Export Drawing With Coordinates

Dear All,

Im a new AutoCAD user. The version Im currently using is AutoCAD 2016.

I have a drawing layered with satellite image. The Satellite image has a predefined coordinates.

Im trying to export the drawing in .DWG format so that it can be load into ArcGIS.

I had tried a few time exported the drawing in .DWG format, but it did not have the coordinates embedded inside. Anyone please help me.

why don't you import the image directly into ArcGIS, whatfor you you need it as DWG-format?

Hello Alfred,

Im sorry, my explanation was not clear enough.

The drawing that I received does not have the coordinates. I though by exporting again, I can fix the issue. But still, it did not carry the coordinates.

The satellite image is working fine in ArcGIS.

Hi,

can you please upload the dwg-file so that we can see what is inside the dwg-file.

Also please let us know which coordinate system you are working in ArcGIS and you are assuming the drawing components should be valid for.

Below is image I want to make it available in ArcGIS.

Im a newbie of AutoCAD. Im not sure which coordinates system this AutoCAD project referring to. But in ArcGIS im working on WGS1984_UTM_32N.
When I saved the drawing in .dwg format, the coordinates was not embedded with the drawing.

Sorry, no image attached. Please don't use your mail-system to answer to threads here, use your Internet browser to reply here, there is a attachment-browser to upload and embed images (or other files) to your posts.

When you insert the dwg-file into ArcGIS you need to know which coordinates you are using in AutoCAD if you want to place the dwg-file automatically to the exact geographic coordinates.

Otherwise you have to place your cad-drawing manually by showing the insertion coordinates/scaling (and sometimes rotation).
